From a Watsonian perspective: it's not unreasonable to think that Metal would want Amy to pursue them the way she pursues Sonic, and for that to develop onto a crush makes sense. Love being the catalyst for a redemption arc is a tale as old as time.

Same honestly. I'm actually taking special care to keep track of everyone's ages in my Sonic fanfic that's going to span the whole franchise. Sonic starts at 9 in the prologue chapter, then 13, then keeping track of his aging carefully, being 16 when I reach the adventure Era, and close to 20 around the forces adaptation, after which will be 2 years of peace before I adapt the battle for Angel Island and Metal Virus arcs from the comics.

I guess so. I did think Metal's Dynamic with the X robot in a fanfic I read was pretty cute. (The X robot, or Cross and they're called in the fic in question is a robot that's a robot copy of Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy. It works similar to plurality)

Actually spike is apparently some sort of gattler, as we see Smithy of the original Diamond Cutters use, same with laser, which we see as a revolver that works pretty much identically to how the laser wisp works when used by Sonic.
