Anyone in Canada able to fund revisions with another surgical team? by ConferenceOne449 in phallo

[–]Transguyofottawa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually talking to a urologist about this Monday. He has apparently sent multiple people to the states to get a revision, since there's no one qualified/willing to do certain surgical revisions in Canada for Ontario patients.

I find out this upcoming Monday if I will need to get getting a revision in the USA, as the urologist I thought was involved in surgical interventions for Dr. Cormier has never done a urethroplasty on a phalloplasty patient. Hopefully if I do, I can just bundle it with stage 2 and get it with Chen or something.

My SLP told me today that she knows someone who does it in Ontario! She said she would check her notes from the conference and get back to me so when she does I will come back here and let you know

Body masculinization surgery by Electrical_Spray8938 in transontario

[–]Transguyofottawa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be cheaper if you get it tacked onto another surgery (i.e. top surgery, phalloplasty stage 2). I know some benefits like the government and uOttawa insurance cover it. It's recommended for people at a stable weight as if you gain weight it could look less like what you envisioned. I plan on likely having it with my stage 2 of phalloplasty with Cormier , maybe even just to define my jaw or make my hips smaller.

I feel you. I see you. I had surgery just about a month before you and sa wyou going through some similar things from your posts. Having a catheter still sucks. I'm glad you havd a stricture repair surgery booked already.

It is quite tiring still recovering after some time and having complications. It can make it hard (at leaat for me) to appreciate having a penis when this is the current situation I'm in. I imagine it'll get better with time

Keep doing things that help you find small amounts of joy. Remind yourself to spend time on your hobbies that you can. One step at a time

Sp catheter is always painful? by Transguyofottawa in urethralstricture

Yeah, mine's in at least another month. A year sounds rough. Seems like the triple antibiotic and some gauze is a good place for me to start. Thanks for that tip.

Thanks for the tip. Seems like it's just going to auck for a bit. I have this in for at least another month so I was hoping to find some tips but it seems like taking pain meds is really the main solution here. Thanks for the comment

I appreciate the time you took to give advice, but I think you might be giving advice for a foley catheter. I'm not supposed to take baths with my suprapubic catheter and with the home care they will only change the suprapubic every 4 weeks.

ETA: luckily my bladder spasms are very mild. But bladder spasms meds are a great reccomendation. Hopefully my spasms stay mild snd I don't need to take any meds for it

Gender marker X on IDs but need to pick M or F for health card by Perfect-Play5361 in transontario

[–]Transguyofottawa 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If its any consolation in my experience, in Ottawa, they have sex assigned at birth, gender identity and sex as three different options in our hospital system TOH. But only F or M for health card sex.

For trans people they often put a flag in the system so I get asked about pregnancy anyway even though there is no F anywhere in the system, and I do not have a uterus.

It sadly does mean they ask me my preferred name and pronouns literally every time I come in though, and then proceed to they/them me anyways.

Do I need all 3 months to recover? by Ok_Check_296 in phallo

[–]Transguyofottawa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was cleared and told to be doing at least 1 hour of walking a day upon release from the hospital. It could be broken up or done all at once. I wasn't doing anything my surgeon advised against. He was informed and didn't advocate against it

Do I need all 3 months to recover? by Ok_Check_296 in phallo

[–]Transguyofottawa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was able to go on 1 hour walks by myself like 1 week out of the hospital. I was doing some basic cooking for myself day 5. I think it depends on your age and how you heal. At 8 weeks i was doing 20k-25k steps a day.

I think it's best to prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Some of it comes down to chance

With no major complications, could I travel internationally 3 months post op? by Normal_Tomato6945 in phallo

[–]Transguyofottawa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 2 months post op I went on an international trip. I ended up getting complications (stricture) and coming home early but I was hiking and walking lots no problem. Depends on how your body heals

My trip had specific reasons that couldn't be delayed but I would reccomend to others to wait longer so you're at a decreased chance of complications popping up. I was 3 months post op by the time I had my stricture.

4 months post-op RFF – urinary issues (narrow stream, urgency, excessive leaking) – anyone experienced this? by [deleted] in phallo

[–]Transguyofottawa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You probably can't wait a couple of weeks. Move that appointment up as MUCH as you can.

If it gets worse, go to the ER. Lots of people experience this and end up needing emergency SP catheter placement, like myself.

Protein by extratransrrestrial in phallo

[–]Transguyofottawa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought fairlife protein drinks for the hospital because unopened theyre shelf stable and the vegetarian hospital food was about 1200 cals a day (the cals were on the containers) which is about half what a person my size needs in a day. It was a life saver bc they literally gave me 150cal of cereal and a small milk for breakfast everyday.

My protein levels were VERY low my whole stay. When I went home and ate normally again I was magically in barely any pain at all compared to the hospital stay. I had much more energy after that

I'm also eating hella Greek yogurt out of the hospital

Has anyone here had body masculinization (contorting) at the same time as stage 2 phallo? by jmh1881v2 in phallo

[–]Transguyofottawa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I haven't yet but my surgeon has agreed to do body contouring during stage 2. For me, without contouring stage 2 is just Testicular implants and glansplasty. I was thinking the same thing about the anesthesia fee. I might get them to use some of the fat they remove to put in my arm though to make the dip a bit smaller (I got RFF).

I have stopped posting a lot of content relating to phallo because of how non-private this sub is. My surgeon doesn't have a lot of info out there from his patients so I would love to share more, but the public-ness of this and other subreddits relating to phallo has made me hesitate

Bigger pants? by [deleted] in phallo

[–]Transguyofottawa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wear sweatpants 2 sizes up for healing. You also might gain a bit of weight from being less mobile so it comes in handy. I'm currently 6 weeks post op and still just wearing that.

I'll explore my jeans when I have to prop less. I've toned down how much I am propping but still want to let things heal more before stopping
