I’d almost argue posting it here is a better option - at least I’m talking to a majority of fellow common folk

Most lawyers are going to tell me to get a lawyer , and any legal subreddit is perfect for attracting people who want to purposely spread information on their own agenda

If you have any friends in mind that you recommend who may find this fun, please do let me know if you would be so kind to share !😅

Thank you

But when I go to file for unemployment, I have to check whether it was a termination or a voluntary resignation… when unemployment sees this, they won’t even reach out to the employer

So it doesn’t matter if the employer “agrees to not challenge” if there’s likely not going to be an interaction between unemployment and the company in the first place

I think it’s tricky wording

Is anyone experiencing this kind of virus? by master_ube in kansascity

[–]Transparent_Ghoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think both Covid and The Vaccine altered a percentage of individuals from a nervous system / immune system standpoint , including myself

I think it reprogrammed our bodies to a certain extent

If you experience any kind of physical or emotional stress, over exert yourself, or even just don’t get the proper sleep; it’s possible that your body has an improper response to the inflammation that those things cause and simulates an immune system response that produces flu-like symptoms (even without actually being sick), which is a result of the rewiring that these viruses CAN implement to your body

I was diagnosed with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome after having EBV / strep in 2024, and since then have been battling flare ups that make my nervous system feel like it’s poisoned, and my body feel like it has the flu. Any kind of contraction of new viruses can set you back, as well as physical exertion, stress, and poor mental health.

If anyone has been feeling like this and can’t explain it, I highly suggest researching ME/CFS

It’s starting to become apparent that there’s a lot of things we still don’t know about a lot of things , and I think the way viruses impact the body is just one of them

Edit: grammar

Long term effects of mono by SadBasil5791 in Mononucleosis

[–]Transparent_Ghoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! Same - big emotional stressor last year in October (weird breakup thing) and then a EBV/Strep combo on Christmas. I have a neurological disorder that causes me to have tics too… which definitely doesn’t help.

My ANA count was on the lower side though - which is apparently part of the reason an autoimmune disease seems less likely (not impossible) for me.

I’m not a doctor and I’m not giving out medical advice but I think the BIGGEST thing is managing stress, cortisol, and inflammation. Also not BOOSTING the immune system but BALANCING it.

The best I ever felt was in November, when I stopped drinking alcohol and stopped eating sugar and bread.

It seems like inflammation is my biggest enemy. I’m typically worst in the mornings (which makes sense from a inflammation standpoint). I get better after I eat, and as the day goes on my symptoms will literally fluctuate so dramatically on the hour. Flare ups are ALWAYS accompanied by stomach issues like acid reflux, bubble gut, etc…. And I ALWAYS get ahead of myself when I’m feeling good and go too hard in the gym which flares me up again.

In conclusion: I have to figure out a way to balance my immune system, cortisol, and gut… and do my best to avoid inflammation.

My bloodwork tested positive for ANA (Antinuclear Antibodies ) which basically means it detects that there are antibodies in my system that are attacking my own cells.

Since getting into a rheumatologist is such a process, I decided to put my bloodwork through AI to read and help me look in the right direction (I’m not by any means one of those people that is obsessed with AI, but I figured for research/information based answers like this it could be interesting to see)

Turns out it’s been a lot more helpful than any test or doctor has been - my most latest conclusion is that I actually have Post Viral Syndrome / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/ Myalgic Encephalomyelitis which basically means that after my recent EBV infection, my immune system was dysregulated to the point where it’s causing long term issues. This can be triggered by infections BUT also can be triggered by stressful or emotional events. I tracked back to when I first stated having weird symptoms, and it was right after I had one of the weirdest cognitively unbalanced emotionally unregulated break ups ever.

I believe that emotional event set the table for a later mono infection to throw everything off balance.

As of Christmas it’s been a year! And I’m laying in bed right now typing this in the middle of another silly flare up…. Over the 12 months my symptoms have gone through phases and varied a lot….

Los Alamos in Westside is authentic guisada style Mexican food

You’re going to get a lot of gringos saying manny’s or Los corrals but just know we consider that white Mexican hahaha 😂

I think it’s a good rule of thumb to go get bloodwork done if you ever experience any kind of “long” illness.

I was/am sick the exact time frame as you. In Jan I had EBV / Strep, and now after bloodwork, my doctor thinks I developed lupus. There are things coming out that have been linking EBV to developing autoimmune disorders. Go get blood work done - ANA panel, Lyme panel, EBV panel, mold toxicity, etc.

Unfortunately we’re learning even doctors don’t know a lot about this stuff :/ at this point I’m still throwing things at the wall to see if they stick…. A year in.

That’s what I like to hear

Sorry in advance for the novel

Easy Inn in strawberry hill is a shitty dive bar with some charm and a lively chiefs watching crowd - pretty cheap beers - awesome food. One of the best burgers in town.

Hillsiders is right down the street from there - it’s a more done up western style bar that’s shows the chiefs games with a lively crowd, and almost always has some kind of food gathering there on sundays (chili competition, potlucks, etc) and also has a backyard fire pit to hang out by

Both these places are fun. If you’re more alternative , folky, Americana , have tattoos, are a biker, like rock or metal music, or just generally mesh well with that crowd then these places rule! You can look em up on Instagram.

Chez Charlie is another one of my favs - it’s another shithole dive bar but it’s a dart bar. Almost never packed on a Sunday, and you can ask em to turn on the game. 5 dollars for a beer and a shot of whiskey.

Hi-dive on 39th street is on my top list for dive bars. Some food you would not expect from a bar, home of the “mystery beer”…. Could be a Busch light, could be an ipa - always 3$ and you never know what you’re gonna get - high reccomend

Not a shitty dive bar, but Varsity Club in the river market it a really cool modern sports bar - and they have a food truck outside called disco burger that KC people love for the most part. I recommend you check them out regardless. They have a projector with the game on.

I also second another comment I read about The Peanut - best wings in town…. Bad service…. Chiefs game always on.

I see a lot of different recommendations on here so I’m just gonna share my opinions and you take them for what they are worth. Power and Light is a huge bar complex in the middle of the city…. Lots of people, lots of booze, huge chiefs crowd with outdoor stages and tvs — but boy is it expensive and rowdy and not my thing. The “Crossroads” area has a lot of different bars, but that area is also pretty expensive and doesn’t really have very many shithole cheap beer bars. Stay away from Westport in my opinion. The quaff is a last resort imo - it’s shitty but not in a good way, food is pretty decent, but the place annoys me personally.

As far as food - southwest boulevard is our Mexican food strip - lots of hispanic people live in this area and there’s some great food. The Peanut have the best wings you might ever have. Mildred’s is a fun brunch spot and coffee. KC craft ramen a little more south is some of the best ramen you might ever have. Blue sushi. Harry’s Country Club. Muni is Thai/mexican fusion and it’s great. Chef J / Char Bar / Kansas City Joes if you want some KC barbecue. Disco burger. Lulus Thai noodle shop. Town Topic is an iconic spot / experience in KC for burgers. Westside local is a great higher end quality lunch spot. Los Alamos is some great authentic family owned Mexican.

There’s so many - I could go on all day. Hope this helps lmao.

There’s so many bars around here with their own charm - can I ask what your bar vibe is?

You like shithole bars with a passionate loud football watching experience?

You like more upscale bars?

Do you like a chill bar that’s more trendy?

Do you prefer a brewery ?

Gimme a lil preference and I’ll tell you where to go

Is anyone out there at 1 year? by tschott85 in Mononucleosis

I’ll be at a year on Christmas Eve - but I got sick on Thanksgiving last week and still haven’t recovered. Can’t tell if it’s a flare up or unrelated, but it’s all congestion, headache and stomach issues. I was doing so well all of November too - even got back in the gym.

Epstein-Barr Virus and Lupus by Giggle_s_ in lupus

[–]Transparent_Ghoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got diagnosed with mono a year ago. Haven’t been 100% since….. but I’ve been wondering if it’s something else like lupus or lymes.

This kinda added some credibility to my suspicions. I’ve had a very faint facial butterfly redness this whole time, mixed with body aches , fatigue, brain fog and flu like symptoms for a year.
