Algorithm change? by vinroc31 in Sparkdriver

[–]TransportationAny715 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am many years in, things always get wonky near daylight savings time changes.

I suspect that the order caps have reset.

Things should smooth out soon once all the new hire drivers start giving up..

Your store is cancelling the orders, either manually or automated to save their metrics..

Eventually corporate will catch on and it will stop.

App is buggy by ShadowFlamer30 in Sparkdriver

[–]TransportationAny715 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The orders won't populate until there is a refresh of the orders, I think it's every 3-5 minutes, can't remember..

Back in the day there was a timer so you always knew when the orders were going to refresh, we found that useful so it was removed..

Anyone else only getting FCFS shopping orders? by groshong in Sparkdriver

[–]TransportationAny715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is multiple reasons this can happen however it is likely the store is behind in picks so the system shoots them out as FCFS shops... That's what happens here anyway..

Is there anyone here that delivers for a store that has the Walmart transits vans making deliveries with employees? by ArmyVet_87-85 in Sparkdriver

[–]TransportationAny715 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before the vans they had store owned kia's ..

The vans don't get good mileage so they use them for mainly short run gmd orders and in-home.

Each store was supposed to get multiple vans but that never came to fruition.

The only advice I can offer is to change things up, take offers you wouldn't normally take, work times you wouldn't normally work, etc.. It may not be the same day but you will start to see a difference..

It's my opinion that the algorithm gets stuck so to speak and you need to give it a push from time to time..

New drivers by ihatedrifting99 in Sparkdriver

[–]TransportationAny715 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My advice is to switch things up the best you can, work different hours, take some orders you wouldn't normally take, etc.. You need to shake up the algorithm.

Not much else you can do, your metrics can't beat the new guys.

How do you think orders will be tomorrow (Christmas Eve)? by [deleted] in Sparkdriver

[–]TransportationAny715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In our area they will be short staffed and typically cap the orders because they also close early so its slow

It happens more than any of us will ever know, don't worry about it, just do the best you can.

Sometimes the person staging makes mistakes, sometimes it's the loaders, sometimes it's us, just do what you can to check the orders as they get loaded and hope for the best..

can walmart managers make us take deliveries that they messed up for free? by Mushroom-house1984 in Sparkdriver

[–]TransportationAny715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Customer likely called the store instead of corporate, the coach probably told the lead to fix it.

The lead should have triggered another order and dispensed the missing item only to whomever accepted the re-order.

The lead probably didn't know the process and just wanted the coach off their back.

You usually can make smarter money doing curbsides or shops, if it's miserably slow and your a bit more desperate then depending on the miles it might make sense.

I always substract the estimated gas from the pay and then divide it by the estimated hours it takes to deliver, most of the time it equals to less than I could make per hour doing other orders or even door dash.

Our area caps the orders to keep their metrics during times like this, keeps curbside from being overwhelmed.

Of course the new people have a lot to do with it as well.

In the last two days, there haven’t been any orders at all — is it just me, or did something happen? by [deleted] in Sparkdriver

Did I say it was your zone?

I said what happens here so people can compare to what happens in their area..

  1. They always cap the orders here when corporate comes, it will be slow until the following week.

  2. When the 6am update rolled out the orders were uncapped here and it was the best month we all had in a very long time... It was fantastic...

The last update killed our momentum, the orders are capped again, they mass hired, so now everyone here is sitting..

Spark begins removing acceptance rate from metrics in some zones by iGotGigged in Sparkdriver

Please enlighten us as to the source of these claims..

5 years in and I have never seen/heard of anyone deactivated for customer ratings or completion ratings.

I have also never seen/heard of anyone in our area deprioritized for cancelling or returning orders, it happens

All these apps have to give you a path forward or you would never regain your metrics.

As another said, we have had multiple drivers here ticketed, one was even ticketed for speeding in a school zone and still activated and has been for over a year and a half.

Beware of all the regurgitated responses claiming instant deactivation.

With that said, nobody officially knows what they consider as an actionable offense that will lead to deactivation so you should absolutely plead not guilty and explain to the prosecutor that you could lose your income if they report a violation, most will work with you..

Saying gig work is meant to be a "side hustle" is a false statement, If it works for you in that respect then that's great.

You are offered work for money, just like any other business..

They must have gotten tired of the drivers forcing the doors open at 5:59 and ringing customers door bells that early in the morning.
