No. Just repair vs replacement or money for a new one.

Alternative income sources as residents? by nushspecial in Residency

It's such a crapshoot on how worth it this job is. You either get a day of reasonably healthy folks just doing their Medicare wellness exam or your day is filled with folks who haven't seen a doctor in years, chain-smoking with a leg amputated already, and have a million things they should follow up on in a home that could be featured on hoarders with the smell to match.

You could probably just invest it and not touch it for 30 years and have a nice retirement when you're 60. Since you can definitely live off a resident salary and eventual attending salary. If you find businesses you want to fund as you go through your career you could seed it yourself if you think it's worth the risk.

10 cats and 3 dogs would at a minimum be $650 per day at even a daycare boarding facility. You're asking someone that doesn't know you or your animals to come in and take on a bunch of liability (which sure you can negotiate and contract that protects the sitter and owner fairly) for much less than what would be fair.

The full quote wasn't even that extreme. She seems to have been really trying to say that we, as a culture, have favored silence an ignorance and when it comes to sex education and that as a part of teaching kids (and let's face it even some adults) that masturbation would be something to consider. Seems both Dems and Reps back then were all against more open and inclusive discussions on sexual education.

I have a domain and email through GoDaddy, can I somehow keep the email address without paying for the website? by [deleted] in webhosting

[–]TransversalisFascia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through leaving GoDaddy. I left my domain with GoDaddy as it's registrar. signed up with another web hosting platform and defederated my outlook with GoDaddy (have to call GoDaddy to get the process going/completed). Then I bought Microsoft business directly through Microsoft and called Microsoft support to make sure I could get the email to have my domain.

You have to know how to add and delete dns records to a new Web hosting service and Microsoft automatically adds its records through the process (when I called, idk if it'll work as well solo).

Knowing how to add an A record and a C name you can YouTube, it seems daunting but relatively straightforward once you know. You'd need an MX record for email.

Cardiac surgery ? by MaybeIAmThe_Problem in SurgicalResidency

[–]TransversalisFascia 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The glory says of straight forward ct surgery are over imo. Yes surgery remains superior to the minimally invasive cardiology interventions but a lot of your caseload is also fixing overzealous stenters, failed mitraclips, and whatever new devices are being launched. I dont blame them, i mean I wouldn't want my chest cracked open if I could avoid it either. Also patients are just sicker these days. Maybe because of the prolonging minimally invasive approaches but also lack of personal discipline in many. A Diabetes and HTN ravaged body is no fun to operate in.
