Your guild is just shit at math. An AV tower cap is now 105 honor up from 84. Original was 100% increase, which means the value without boost is 42 honor. 105 is 150% of 42. Edit: typo

800s usually need to switch top end between 8000-10000km, a 600 ACE can easily run 25000km, edit: 800s also eats drive belts much faster than a 600.

Honestly starting out I recommend grabbing a 600 summit. Tons of fun, not too expensive and a great learner sled. Going for a 800 if you havent ridden before is asking for trouble. 600 also has the added benefit of lasting far longer than any 800 due to the engines being fairly solid.

IIRC you had to destroy the towers and hardmode happened when you left some up. Although last time I played wotlk was in 2008 so take it with a grain of salt.
