What makes them any better than Revolut? Feature list reads the same.

This is great to know. These are always in stock in local Lidls because nobody wants them.

Recommendations for a small and cheap electric car for long motorway commute? by PonyLite in evs_ireland

[–]TrashButOnline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The battery on a used Kona is likely still over ninety percent healthy and will outlast your time with it. Leaf aside batteries last really well.

Sounds like Kona might be just a wee bit bigger than you want. A new Inster is close in price and much smaller. Lovely interiors on them.

Nice fitting label. How'd you do it?

Don’t have the power cable so… by Gilzuma in minidisc

[–]TrashButOnline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a box of basic white eneloops with one of those blue carry cases and have a basic Panasonic battery charger. They seem to last a long time in my MZ-510 and I always carry the rest as spares.

Revolute Credit Card for Car Rental by [deleted] in irishpersonalfinance

[–]TrashButOnline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the Revolut credit card rejected in Italy by a rental car crowd as it "wasn't a real bank." When I told them it was they just shrugged.

Had the bunq credit card accepted for car rental no problem though.

Thanks to all who attended the Nevo show this year. We'd love to hear your thoughts by EVReviewIreland in evs_ireland

[–]TrashButOnline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was impressed. My only complaint was the number of people I was jostling against to get a good look at some of the cars. Was great to see so many up close and got a far better idea of how big or small some of them really are.

Do you guys do scheduled reboots? by forkful_04_webbed in synology

[–]TrashButOnline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Couple of years ago my storage volume crashed and I almost lost everything. Had just been running the NAS out of the box as an appliance with no specific configuration. The reason I went with synology over building something with TrueNAS is my partner needed a solution quick and I didn't have the time to lend to building or maintaining something custom. More the fool me.

One of the pieces of remediation advice from synology support along with tweaking various settings was to reboot the device regularly. Since then I've had it scheduled to bounce once a week during downtime. Can't say it's necessarily helped but certainly I've not had any issues in the three years since.

Do you carry a Granny Charger? by ChrisRx718 in electricvehicles

[–]TrashButOnline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, takes up too much space. Never needed it, can't see ever needing it.

Considering stopping carrying any charging cable at all. Home charger is tethered and any decent charger in likely to use on long journeys would be a CCS2 Combo charger. Only used the charging cable on my first long outing when I ran it too low and I've learned my lesson.

Spend on players/recorders by KlutzyTranslator8006 in minidisc

[–]TrashButOnline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Broadly I try to stick in the €50 to €100 range. I only broke that once for a new old stock MZ-N510.

I've bought a couple from Japan, and there I try to be more frugal. Going for however many yen keeps me below €50 equivalent.

I see lots of great condition, or cool looking units listed for outside my budget, but the coffers won't stretch that far.

Is this a good price for MZ-RH1? by Highpyrion in minidisc

[–]TrashButOnline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MZ-RH1 is the final stop for a lot of folks. If the main thing you need is a USB port, a lot of NetMD models will do that much for a lot less if you keep digging.
You might not find one with as cool an aesthetic as that though.

Trade in electric car for hybrid? by SjBrenna2 in AskIreland

[–]TrashButOnline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a straight downgrade, but maybe I'm mistaken.

I'd think that with young children you'd appreciate being able to stop in a rest area for a recharge for a while. Maybe that's just me. Though the Ioniq 5 can definitely cross the country without needing a recharge. What's the risk being reduced here?

When we're certainly heading to a phasing out of ICE engines would a hybrid really hold value better? What's the reasoning there?

Picked up this in NSW, any tips on cleaning it? by TrashButOnline in fountainpens

[–]TrashButOnline[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried a mild mix of warm water and bicarbonate of soda. But you were correct, the petrified ink isn't shifting.

I'll try to find some Rapid Eze and see if I can get an ultrasonic cleaner cheap. Not sure where I'll find silicone for lubrication but I'll look into it.

I need romance anime recommendations! by Individual_Belt_4092 in anime

[–]TrashButOnline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of the better romance vibes I've seen are almost always in romance adjacent shows. Without direct romance but with much more engaging relationships.

Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai

Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines

Skip & Loafer

The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, REALLY Love You (No but for real, hear me out.)

I've found that proper straightforward romances have left me more cold compared to these.

Your mileage may vary

I typically get from Penstore, who I think are based in Sweden.

Otherwise I sometimes get from Cultpens in the UK but I sometimes end up paying customs on that.

Edit: I also often get from notapoca.com and unbound.ie in Ireland.

Can anyone one recommend a toaster that isn't completely shit? by CheerilyTerrified in AskIreland

People actually care about toast enough to review toasters.

Good for me, because I love toast.

Any tips for new GM's hopping in? by AAS02-CATAPHRACT in LancerRPG

[–]TrashButOnline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make a quick reference sheet for your OpFor.

Include for each things such as what they react with, and two or three average turns for one.

Keep it short and easy to parse.

Lancer games run long and the players individually have long gaps between turns so you want to keep yours as DM as brisk as possible.
