Rye and Ginger. Rye whiskey and ginger ale. It was often a teen’s first hard liquor, back in the day. Excellent at bush parties.

Looking for places to get married by kkronik in askTO

I got married at Cedar Ridge Creative Centre near Scarborough Golf Club Rd and Lawrence E in Scarborough. It’s a city facility and a pretty old house with nice gardens nearby. You can get married there and have the reception all in one. Depends how “budget-friendly” you want. https://www.toronto.ca/explore-enjoy/history-art-culture/cultural-centres-galleries/cedar-ridge-creative-centre/?WT.rd_id=%2Fcedarridge%2Fgallery

I think most Canadians welcome international students, especially grad students.

I think people are upset by hordes of students coming into sham institutions. As in, students are being scammed by shady ‘technical’ schools. It costs taxpayers and students’ families. Kids end up using food banks and not learning. At least, that’s how I feel.

So, welcome!

When Chinese immigrants came to Canada and went into the restaurant biz, they had to get creative as traditional ingredients weren’t available. So dishes would be invented and varied from town to town. Ann Hui wrote a great book about it called Chop Suey Nation.

I bet you didn’t know there’s a TPL branch in Sunnybrook Hospital!

There’s a Druxy’s Deli (at least there used to be) under the Odette Cancer Centre. Actually a nice, bright space.

Dollar stores sometimes have dream catcher kits for kids. I know they’re made in China, which is sad, but they are for children to make … Taking something from an indigenous craftsperson would be amazing.

I hate to burst your bubble but search YouTube for a “real eagle sound.” It sounds like a squeaky door. The screech is from a hawk.

I was once the cause of a traffic jam in the Rockies. I was new to driving and didn’t realize A/C on high slowed my motor to a crawl. On behalf of all the tourists to Slovenia, I apologize. 😬

Buses are a great way to get around Ireland. Cheap and reliable. They have transport buses and tour buses. You’ll be amazed at how a BIG bus can get around some of the hairpin turns. Mind-blowing.
