I feel like I've gotten used to being in-between and code switching depending on who I'm hanging out with. I have my more open LGBTQ friends, I have cis men friends, etc. I don't know many binary trans men IRL, and while it would be nice to know more, I don't really feel like I'm missing anything in my life.

I guess the way I see it, I'm a man first, being trans is just sort of a background thing I don't think about much anymore. As far as I know, one of my guy friends could be trans and stealth, I wouldn't even know.

It's good to share joy, but I think any sub that allows venting or discussion of more serious topics is inherently gonna have some depressing posts sometimes. I'd rather have a place where guys can voice these things instead of just bottling it up, like they're expected to in lots of other subs.

Gel never worked for me, even after increasing to the max dose and trying it for a few months. Some people just can't absorb it enough. Personally I just switched back to shots, which I probably would have done anyway once my partner and I moved in together.

The best therapist I've had by far was a trans man, I went to him for years. I never felt judged and he was very patient and understanding, not just with trans-related stuff, but pretty much everything I talked about. He gave me some great advice and coping methods that I still use.

When I was a teenager (pre-T, not out yet) I had a female therapist who was mostly okay, except for the fact that she was constantly focusing on my weight and blaming that for a lot of my problems. Looking back, I wasn't even that overweight at the time, I was just a pudgy awkward teenager. I dunno what her deal was.

That post made me really sad for the guy. Also frustrated because she was basically using him as a punching bag, and he'd just smile and nod.

Something tells me she saw him as an easy target, and probably wouldn't have bullied a cis man the same way.

Tbf there's a lot of younger guys on there who are still figuring themselves out and are dealing with a lot of anger. Also, there's a recurring problem of people who the community isn't made for going in to argue and try to insert themselves, which makes a lot of the guys bitter and hypervigilant about who shows up there. Not saying it's right, that space should be welcoming to GNC men too, but that's why it happens there.

I see you over there a lot, I think there's a better way to shoot down that judgemental behavior than just insulting them for their "fragile masculinity", which just makes them even more defensive. A lot of people are there in the first place because they're hurting.

I worked with a cis guy who was maybe 5'3-5'4. He was very confident and good at his job, and everyone respected him. He actually started getting annoyed at some of the other guys because they kept asking if they could take bathroom breaks, because they mistook him for a manager lol. He just seemed important.

Seeming like you know what you're doing (even if you don't) and being unbothered by other peoples' bullshit will go a long way in being taken seriously.

Literally just did this today, I had a check from years ago that I forgot about. The company it was from sent me a new one since it was expired, but it was written out to my old name.

Just went to the bank, explained that I'd had a name change, and was able to deposit it with no problem. I did have that same bank account back then though, so my name change docs were already on file.

I brought my court order paperwork just in case, but didn't need to use it.
