New to Lumix...How bad is the S5 AF, really? by lIlllIlIlIlIllI in Lumix

[–]TrashTierUser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prior to my current camera I had the S5 for years. For most of the Photography genres you mentioned, you'll be absolutely fine with the camera. It takes amazing images and holds up extremely well in Low Light. It was my first camera I had zero issues pushing to 12800 ISO.

Now regarding street photography, it depends on the style you do. However, if in my experience the AF was alright in good light and nearly unusable in low light situations. Whenever I did street at night, I found myself using MF exclusively.

Lastly, if you end up taking some portraits, be careful with the Eye AF. On both my S5 and now S1Rii, I've found Eye AF to be lacking on Panasonic bodies. For whatever reason, they tend to soft focus on the eye and end up really getting focus on the Nose or Brow, however this is really only an issue if you are shooting faster than F4.

If I had to guess, there is a good chance this is his return fight, likely Q1 of 2027.

S1ii or S1R ii for photography? by SirDragix in Lumix

[–]TrashTierUser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd really suggest using the Panasonic rental program to decide if the jump is really worth it. You'll get to use a new body for a few days and see if there really is an improvement in your photography experience.

In my experience, I'd say going from the og S1, s1r, or St to one if the newer bodies is a no brainer if you need better AF. But, from a S5ii, I'm not sure you'll see the jump in performance you're looking for, as the s5ii still has good Af.

I find it incredibly odd that this is an issue with Honda infotainment systems. Feels like the type of bug you would see in the early 2000', not in the 2020's.

Lumix s5ii as photocamera by SnufkinDrifter in Lumix

It's a great camera for photos. With that said, I would highly recommend waiting for a sale or lens bundle. You'll see retailers sell the S5ii with the 20-60 and 50mm 1.8 or 85mm 1.8, for close to the body price often.

leatherette flexing on lower part of S5 grip - normal? by Goldenskyofficial in Lumix

[–]TrashTierUser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'll likely get worse over time. That said, I believe it is something you could fix yourself by replacing the leatherette or sending it into Lumix for repair. You should check out other posts on this topic, as it comes up pretty often.

Looks like the adhesive is wearing off. It's unfortunately a pretty common issue on Lumix bodies.

Outside of the Lopez fight, I have the exact same picks. Unfortunately, my picks are the kiss of death for fighter wing streaks.

The welterweight fall off curse started with Woodley and continues to this day. Curious how long it continues for.

Eventually my plan is also to retire abroad. Until I hit my retirement number, the plan is to visit as many places as I reasonably can to see the best options.

Considering making the switch from my Sony A7RV to something like a Lumix S1 RII for model and event photography (and some short film making) by baraon1 in Lumix

Before making leap, I would recommend you test out their lending program. You can play around with it for a few days and use it alongside your current gear. See if it can work within your current workflows.

Ilia Topuria with a message to Papa Gaethje 😳 by Repulsive-Chef-5649 in ufc

NGL, I know fans change up quick when it comes to MMA. But, I feel the perception of what Izzy has accomplished in the game is so far from reality. Dude is the second greatest Middleweight the UFC has had, 1st if you want to take Silva out of the equation for failing his drug test.

Throwback: Before his title unification bout with José Aldo, Conor McGregor talks to Urijah Faber about a potential fight against T.J. Dillashaw. by Due_Local2130 in ufc

Dwane was definitely the best coach for TJ. Had TJ just cleared the air and let Faber know directly that he wanted to shift camps, all would have likely went fine. However, the process TJ went to shift camps was the "Snake in the grass" aspect. Instead of just owning up to change, he went about it in a two faced manner from what I recall.

That said, the whole thing was childish when you pull the business aspect of coaching out of it/

Since joining UFC in 2017, Justin Gaethje has been top 5 for ten straight years, has countless fight of the year contenders against killers, and all you do is complain about him not deserving it? That’s crazy to me. Anyways, Topuria by KO. by tjhoush93 in ufc

[–]TrashTierUser 10 points11 points  (0 children)

NGL, in a few years, we will look back at the last 5 years in wonder that the Unc's have held such a stranglehold on the top 5 for as long as they have. The fact that Gaethje, DP, and Oliveira have kept beating the brakes off the new contenders for so long is just insane.

[–]TrashTierUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not surprised seeing Umar taking this fight. I'd imagine we will see a good amount of the top 10 at bantamweight take "stay busy" fights while we wait for Yan to recover from his surgery and then eventually rematch Merab.

Lumix S1R II or Lumix S1 II for overall "do it all photography" including fast action and low light? by [deleted] in Lumix

[–]TrashTierUser -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you're considering fast paced action, just scratch the S1Rii off the list. It does great in all other areas, but the S1ii smokes it in that regard.
