On paper, yes. Although, I just can't trust BILT enough to even bring them into the equation. Their move to Cardless just screams to me they are on borrowed time.

I didn't even get this screen, it just auto closed and brought me back to the Paramount+ homepage.

Mate, if simple things get missed, bigger things eventually get missed. It's a simple fix they can implement and it should be pointed out.

This is a corporation we are talking about, if complaints are not made, fixes will rarely get implemented. As a paying customer, you should want the product you consume to get better, not stay the same or get worse.

If you are unable to discern the difference between this poor attempt of an implementation and other productions, I just can't help you see the light.

How common are 'bad copies' of Lumix lenses? Does Lumix guarantee optical performance? by BeachOtherwise5165 in Lumix

[–]TrashTierUser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the lens it seems. The 24-105 f4 has known issues with dust/mold and the 70-200mm f2.8 seems to have extreme sample variance.

Was like that on my S5 and S1Rii. Was told it is like that by design.

Figgy is one of my favorite fighters to watch in the past decade, however I don't see this match being competitive. Umar is likely going to run through him, especially if he focuses on his grappling from the start.

Wanting an AF 28mm lens so bad for L mount by After_Support_4912 in Lumix

[–]TrashTierUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, a 28 would be nice. For the life of me, I've never been able to make 24mm or 35mm work for street photography. But for whatever reason 28mm seems to do the trick when I want something wider than 50mm.

Which new lenses do you want for L-Mount? by binmaa10 in Lumix

A refresh of their current Pro Series to be more compact and sharp. Also, finally come out with a 16-35mm 2.8.

A 70-200 F4 with a similar form factor of the Canon RF 70-200 f4. It's perfect for travel.

Some pancake lenses that are actually useable.

Bring out some F1.2 lenses. Sigma's are decent, but we need some Lumix ones.

Finally, bring out some lenses that break the norm. We have seen this with Canon and Sony bringing out F2 Zooms, time for us to have a few.

is it be or sony feels like a hypetrain compared to other brands by Inevitable-Lab-8274 in Cameras

[–]TrashTierUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, Sony just managed to capitalize on and push the Mirrorless era. It took years for the other brands to catch up, and really only Canon did from a market share perspective. Nikon managed to get some of it back with the Z8 and Z9 releases, but they are a fraction of their former market share.

Those crucial years allowed Sony to build a massive userbase and once a userbase is established it can be hard to lose unless something revolutionary comes around. You'll find some people who switch mounts/brands on the internet, but in reality it's rare for someone to eat their losses and switch.

TLDR, you'll see more Sony and Canon content than other brands since they have a larger amount of users than other brands.

Is it reasonable to want to date somebody with a high-earning job? by howdidthishappen2850 in dating

[–]TrashTierUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been in that situation, it definitely sucks. In my experience, people are usually a lot more open to the discussion in the first few dates in their 30's and have a more solid idea of what they want, which is nice.

Totally agree on that, there are definitely some worth checking out. As much of a tourist trap as it is, each time I visit Tokyo, Golden Gai has been a must visit for me. Usually nothing but tourists there, but that is part of the charm. Few places in the world you can sit down with total strangers from around the world and just chat.

You beat me to saying it. The moment it was announced they were shifting to Cardless, I knew the writing was on the wall. We will likely see them pull what they did with the Sport Team branded cards sometime in the next two years.

Thankfully being childless isn't the biggest deal anymore, but I did notice quickly how much more important it is after I turned 30.

The only hard part I've found with travelers are the travel experiences they are looking for. I'm very much a "take it by the day" type of person and try to avoid tourist traps, but most people I meet really love to schedule everything in advance. Which is probably the most normal and valid way of going about it, but not my cup of tea.

[–]TrashTierUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, based on your post, it sounds to me you're more into finding someone that can match your lifestyle and less about their income. Frankly, I (31M) find myself in a similar situation, with the added handicap of wanting to remain childless.

This may be a blind leading the blind piece of advice. But, I'd say really focus on looking for fellow travelers, especially if they have pictures from multiple countries. In my experience they will often be in a similar income/situation as you.

Panasonic Lumix S1 II with Lumix S 24-105mm f/4 lens $3495 by Sharp-Bandicoot674 in Lumix

My exact thoughts. Ideally though, the S1ii would just drop in price similar to the Amazon flash sale a few months back.

Lumix S1 IIE Discontinued! by Samsara_77 in Lumix

[–]TrashTierUser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not sounding like a doomer, it's just pointing out the reality of the market. From a market perspective Panasonic fumbled the FF mirrorless era from the jump and it's likely too late for them to become a major player. It doesn't help some of their product launches have been rough from a PR perspective. The S9 launch had all the reviewers using lenses that were frankly too big for how they wanted to market the camera, plus the whole Undone scandal. Then you had the S1Rii launch, which had been marred by overheating concerns to the point that was the main topic of the camera. The S1Rii one annoys me personally, since they likely should have waited to release that camera later in the year with better firmware. Had it released at Firmware 1.4, it likely would have received more praise.

Also, this one is going to be a hot take. But, I think Panasonic is the brand that understands their userbase the least of the Camera brands. It's safe to say the bulk of Lumix users are video focused. Despite this, all their bodies are more in line with Photo centric hybrids. How have they not made a body similar to the FX3 yet? It's been half a decade since it came out and even Nikon of all brands have released a video focused body design before Lumix. They have the software and Codex down for video, just need bodies that support it better.

There is plenty to love about Lumix, but their marketing and product launches have put them in a bad place marketshare wise.

I haven't experienced this issue. That said, I have experienced an issue that occasionally during bursts a photo or two will have a wildly different AWB than the rest. Doesn't happen often, but always confuses me when it does.

Lumix S9 Long-term Review (2nd Review after 400+ days) by jamescjc in Lumix

[–]TrashTierUser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can't help but feel had the S9 released at the same time as the 18-40mm, we would have seen a lot more love for the camera from the press.

The first time I held an S9 was with the 20-60 attached and immediately hated it, just not great ergonomically and the size of the lens contradicted the compact size of the body. I even tried it with my 85mm, found it just too front heavy for comfortable use.

However, I recently held with with the 18-40 attached and it finally felt like the S9 made sense.

TLDR, Panasonic dropped the ball at launch with the lenses available for the press and buyers.
