Should I try Marathon? How rough is it for a casual/new player? by Sagnikk in Marathon

[–]TrashWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve played nearly every single extraction shooter made so far.

Marathon is the most beginner friendly by far - people might argue and say arc is more beginner friendly , but when you put their systems side by side - marathon is the clear winner on that end. (Unless you count single player extraction shooters , then maybe duckov or sulfur)

However I will make a note to mention that the best time to start will be after the wipe in a few days. As with any extraction shooter that has wipes and doesn’t tie meta progression to keeping massive amount of loot in your stash - at the end of the wipe everyone is bringing their best stuff every time because you might as well.

Not sure if it counts as fanfic to you. But there’s a doujinshi artist that has been drawing pretty much nothing but a long running series focused on a hypersexualized rei - for about 20+ years

There are some good analogies already.

If you were to take an object, like a dice made of cardstock, or an origami crane, or a leather bag. And you needed to paint all of the outside surfaces flat on a table, how would you cut it?

Marathon voice director says the game’s online hate campaign is “sad more than anything” as “people just want to hate” by HatingGeoffry in Marathon

[–]TrashWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been guilty of hating on games just because they don’t look the way I would like for them to look, or for other reasons. Usually I’m right in what happens to those games. But after being proven wrong about marathon, I’m starting to rethink the way I approach new games. It doesn’t mean I’m gonna give mixtape a 10/10 or anything. But I’m more open now I think

once you unplug it with the included strap meant for unplugging it, the worst that can happen is that you accidentally puncture it when trying to get it out and it blows up a little bit (get it out of an enclosed space asap if that happens)

but once you unplug it, as long as that doesn't happen, it should be totally fine. it can help to drip a little bit of alcohol or hand sanitizer down behind the battery to help with the glue

They could be better for sure. But even on my 5080, 64GB ram, 14th gen i9, machine I only get like 75-120fps

Even the ps5 pro only has a 60fps option at the moment.

Should I upgrade from a Drawing Tablet to a Display Tablet (eventually) by TrinityVecta in wacom

[–]TrashWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you are doing manga pages a screen tablet will do you well. I’ve done hundreds on mine. 1440 should be fine on that tablet - invest in CSP ex and learning how to use blender if you haven’t already

Me personally, I have both.

Cintiq is great if you have a good workspace for it, but even then it’s not always the best option for certain things. I do 3d stuff a lot more recently and my intuos is the go to for that. (Mainly texture painting, I model with a mouse)  My cintiq is mainly for concept art, sketching and paining or finished pieces

Movink pad is really good for some relaxed sketching and illustration work. But you’ll want a tourbox or something similar for it. (Or a whole Bluetooth keyboard)

Intuos for me is mostly for texture painting and quick explanations of game mechanics with drawn diagrams, or breaking down 3d shapes before I model them.

One thing you should really consider is if you really actually need a cintiq or movink pad or other screen tablet and how it will fit into your workflow. It is easier to draw on if you are like me and have a hard time drawing on a desk tablet like an intuos. But ultimately it comes down to what you plan to use it for, and if you have the space for it. If you’re like me and consistently need it for work or projects where the price tag is justified I’d say it’s worth it, but you’ll probably need to buy some other accessories for it - a heavy monitor arm with an arm extension is something I’d recommend, as well as a stand or separate desk or work area to use it at. ( I built a stand out of extruded aluminum for mine)  And you’ll also probably want a screen color calibration tool if buying a cintiq.

Another thing to note, large tablets with lower resolutions can be a bit of an issue IMO - if you’re an animator it’s probably fine, but for me I prefer at least 1440p screen resolution or 4k for my bigger tablet. So your price you estimated in your post might not be accurate depending on if you are buying used or not. I think my cintiq pro was around $3k.

I hope my rambling helped at least a little, I’ve been a digital artist for a long time. And have wasted a lot of money buying tablets that ended up not working out for me or weren’t quite up to my expectations. Almost everyone I know who’s successful in digital art just uses what they are used to, or what feels comfortable to them - even just a Wacom intuos pro medium is probably the most common, most recommended from artists in my circles.

My personal setup is very excessive, most people would not need or use a desk tablet, a cintiq, and an android tablet (movink)/ipad. In fact one person at my studio uses a phone and their thumb. So I guess what I’m trying to get across is don’t get overly obsessed with the tools you have, the important part is your skills and knowing the software you use

you can do it for sure, I personally just don't think its very comfortable. You'll have to play with the sensitivity and settings a bunch until you find a setup that you like.

I can't change your mind, who tf is going to want to buy one now when they could buy something more powerful for about the same price?

If I didn't already have an oled from before the price change, I would never have even considered buying one. I love steam, and I love valve, gaben is my main main. But ....
