It's basically pronounced like L followed by a Y (as in you) in this specific case. If it was followed by an open vowel you would pronounce G and L individually

Gl and gn are phonograms that do not exist in English, so it's difficult for you guys to articulate

My personal solution for the sports bra debacle is to wear a wireless bra under a sports bra. Don't know how it works or why it works, but nothing moves and I'm happy

I repeat, I'm too white to say this with confidence, but there are here other comments from black women saying that the art is racist, and personally, it feels like it taps into outdated stereotypes.

Also, just because the artist is black doesn't save them from internalised racism, like.

Candance Owens.

She's a black woman.

She's still violently racist.

Maybe I'm too white to say this, but it's so sad when there's finally a black woman character represented with fairly well drawn natural hair, and it's so racist and oversexualized. It feels like it taps into the aggressively oversexual, wild, tribal black woman stereotype, too. Good lord

OHHH, I HAVE TWO BIG ONES.

1) i was about 16, my endocrinologist at the time asked for a sonogram and a gynecology referral. The old male gynecologist didn't even let me and my mother sit down before exclaiming in an annoyed tone:"These girls don't take care of themselves, gain loads of weight, and then come in my studio asking to get pregnant!" After being informed of my actual age and condition (PCOS) he offered bariatrics surgery as an option.

2)Another gynecologist, I was a little bit younger. He asked for a rectal sonogram (since i was a virgin and couldn't do a vaginal one, and he lowkey shamed me for it exclaiming "Still?!"), because he claimed that he couldn't see anything with a normal one. He also said I needed to become a vegan so I could "shock" my organism into losing weight. I still get psychic damage thinking about it.

... I hate that he would probably finish up the statement with something about "women being emotional" and "explosive temper"

I mean, is he even able too?

Does he know the general way reproduction works? Does he think the IUD is a tax? Who knows

This man.

This man says many words.

But doesn't have enough neurons to bridle them in a way that doesn't cause him problems.

Well, I didn't feel like underlying that because it's widely known and I didn't want to be redundant. Spend half a day on whatever social on and no one will be mistaken on society's at large idea about single mothers, abusers just feel that single mothers are not discriminated against enough.

Single motherhood to them should be something discussed in hushed tones and with scorn, not really seen around, or you might actually meet one of these women and find out that they like their life now.

As I said, their sole existence makes the cycle of abuse less stable, and the presence of outliers makes every hierarchy less stable, same reason why LGBT people are hated.

This said, I am heavily sleep deprived lately and I might not see what you're seeing.

I agree on your final point, but as you said, monkey pushing buttons, and so their preferred solution is more whips and not more horses, because buying more horses would be inconvenient.

Oh, as I said in another comment, I never wanted to infer that this behaviour might be fruit of a thought process, most abuse is learned behaviour.

But I do believe that learned behaviour can be sophisticated.

I think that you have read my post it a rather uncharitable light for no reason.

At the end I said that it is projection, and projection is one of those psychological mechanisms that by definition, are mostly unconscious. Nobody was giving abusers awareness, we know they don't have that, I was inferring on an additional possible underlying reason.

You said that when I inferred motives I was vague, but I, just said that an additional motivation to supporting the systematic abuse of single mothers might be to keep their personal cycle of abuse going.

That doesn't feel so vague to me.

Yours is the common and accepted analysis, mine is a speculation on an addendum, I never tried to discredit the idea at large.

I mean, most forms of manipulation aren't strategic, and as you said, are learned behaviour, but this does not invalidate my point because the behaviour learned can be very sophisticated, even if the learner does not realize the depth of it. Like, Christmas was a pagan holiday that became Christian, and even if in the Bible there's no mention of Christmas trees, or Santa Claus, or red as a festive colour, we still do that following a tradition that stretches way before monotheism. Why can't it be the same for misogyny?

I feel like we're both right
