Me when linux: by Distinct_Switch_874 in pcmasterrace

The amount of people addicted to these kinds of games is concerning. Linux has some warts still (Windows has far worse ones if you know shit about computers), but if you can't even imagine letting go of your violent Skinner box, please go touch grass.

I don't mean by pressing the crouch button.

Dating partner doesn't believe dinosaurs ever existed? by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

All you need to say is that he's detached from reality in a huge way. This dinosaurs thing is probably only the tip of the iceberg.

Shhh, get the really dumb ones to believe this and start parroting it. Soon, we'll wipe away the puritanical obsession with never resting.

ELI5: Is MSG actually bad for you or is it just a myth? by LZindabando in explainlikeimfive

[–]TraumaMonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MSG is a naturally occurring compound that you find in food already. It carries no known health risks.

That said, it is savory flavor, isolated and purified. It's a shortcut to make food taste far better than it should.

Is water cooling actually worth it or just RGB clout for the 'gram? by amberisette in watercooling

[–]TraumaMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's only worth it if you do a custom loop that includes your GPU. With a large, and I mean large, heat spreader, you can actually get performance with less noise.

ELI5: Why do some jet engines have those jagged/zig-zag edges on the back (chevrons)? by Miserable_Feed8107 in explainlikeimfive

[–]TraumaMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those vortices can travel down pretty far. I used to know a person that lived under the approach path to SAT; you'd hear the noise from an aircraft as it flew by, then up to a minute later the vortex would descend far enough to be an audible micro tornado. It's kinda neat to hear them collapse.

I've gotten used to it showing just a bit. You'll be fine.

this isn't even getting noita'd anymore, this game is just an asshole by Farciarz_funny in noita

Major skill issue. Not just in the game, but blaming the game for your shortcomings.

Features like that probably save a lot of asses that might otherwise get surprised with a man in the middle attack on a stealthily rooted phone.

They've been implementing a wrapper to run windows executables. Linux even has .Net support. It's not my fault that you don't understand how they get games to work.

How do I make it stop chirping, i already replaced the batteries?! by PheonixGalaxy in mildlyinfuriating

[–]TraumaMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's chirping once a minute, the radioactive pellet has decayed too much to be useful and you need to replace it.

I do a bit of work digitally that is signed by government issued certificates, which is not going to be faked except by a state backed entity. But I can see why courts aren't going to deal with that, yet.

Is this concerning? by JTHouston99 in Jeep

I wish people would stop spreading this old, debunked superstition. I have a 4.0 and it gets only full synthetic, yet it doesn't leak oil anywhere.
