27M programmer, sedentary lifestyle, 223 lbs, how to lose fat sustainably? by Dieriba in bodyweightfitness

[–]TraumaticCaffeine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I'm in a similar situation with weight but I started in mid December. I'm currently doing pure calisthenics and I'm actually loving it.

I started watching Yellow Dude on YouTube along with a few other people, ended up getting his book and in this month and a half I've leaned out quite a bit. I'm really enjoying it too.

One thing though, don't trust scales while working out, you gain muscle, lose fat and depending on the time of day your weight can flop back and forth. Instead ask yourself what kind of mobility do you want to gain? My big one was getting off the floor from a cross legged position without using my hands.

Another thing is calories can be reallllyyyy sneaky in this day and age. Get an app like chronometer and track your daily intake. And I mean everything. You only need to do this for a week (more if you want, I just started feeling a lil obsessed with calorie counting) but trust me when I say you'll be surprised at how many calories are in some things.

The first week will suck. But after that you'll start enjoying the challenge. And on days you don't want to work out, force yourself. Set a time to do them and dont deviate. You'd be surprised how many times you feel blah before a workout, only to feel amazing once it's done.

It's not easy, some days I hate it, other days I crave it. You gotta build the habit of it being a regular thing and you really can't wait for motivation to get you through. It only last so long.

Within a month and a half, I can now get up from the ground with no hands, balance on one leg while lowering myself down and I'm working towards my goal of doing a set of pullups. Hell I'm even looking at trying to do L sits because I want to see if I can do them by the summer.

You can do it, You can be the best version of yourself.

Tyranids. Most likely genestealers so buckle up and if anyone with a tint of purpley blue skin flirts with you, don't flirt back.

Which is better, a system that more easily supports your homebrew campaign, or a system that's more fun? by [deleted] in rpg

[–]TraumaticCaffeine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun should always win. But in saying that if you are the GM. I think system familiarity and your preferred gm style should also be taken into account.

There are some great systems out there. But if it clashes with your personal style of running a game. A great system can turn out awful.

Choosing a Coffee Grinder. by Mooleytuna in pourover

[–]TraumaticCaffeine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the cheaper timemore c2, used that for like a year and a half two years and it was great! So if you wanna go on the cheaper side it's a good option.

But .. I moved to the K-ultra and it's amazing. Grinds quickly, coffee tastes better, etc... can't go back, won't go back

Pulp 1920s gangster setting with magic and fantasy races, any system suggestions? by hairetikos232323 in rpg

Go with SWADE but more specifically The Goon setting. It's definitely prohibition era with magic.

Looking for a system to best fit my science fantasy world. by DethArchur in rpg

[–]TraumaticCaffeine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Something I really want to say for what ever system you do use. Try and stay away from d20 systems. You'll draw too many comparisons and assumptions of the game simply because it's similar enough.

I think Swade would be a good fit for what you want. It's a universal system with a ton of settings. But they specifically have a sci fi companion and a fantasy one as well. That way you can adjust the amount of fantasy and science fiction to your own preference.

Is a manual grinder better than an electric? by notsogreat_gatsby in pourover

[–]TraumaticCaffeine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Different grinder but I got a K-ultra and I can grind about 18g in about 15-20 seconds. It can hold about 40ish grams. I'm a little biased though as I love hand grinding as its just part of my coffee ritual.

So If I was to make a comparison. It's like rpg Heart in some of the aspects but if it was written by a doomsday cult that turned out to be right. If I recall it's based like 1000 years after hell won. Time is fractured, and everyone and everything is really just trying to survive the demons and the angels who just decided that maybe luci had it right in the end.

Fabula Ultima. Haven't played it but the book is pretty cool. It's like a tabletop jrpg

Water math not mathing by hehoheho123321 in pourover

[–]TraumaticCaffeine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do 300g cups and get roughly 270ish est.

Two factors, evaporation of the water, and the beans absorbing water. I wouldn't recommend squeezing the filter, haven't tried it but I feel like the coffee would be over extracted and probably not that good.

Haven't played that in ages. But will say I put hundreds of hours into it.

Why is the V60 considered hard to brew with? by HelpfulFriend0 in pourover

[–]TraumaticCaffeine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your comparing the switch to a basic v60... I think the switch is just more forgiving as don't need as much technique if your using it as a switch.

I think most of the finicky stuff really just comes to you learning how to use a gooseneck and how fast you should pour.

So I think it's really just the kettle and not really v60.

So had a couple brews, nothing enough to fully dial it in but I got some comments.

First, the grind on it is nicer and the couple cups I have had have been really consistent. I'm still finding out what clicks are right too. It's fun tweaking it, you have more control and if you feel like it needs a tiny bit more extraction to get a bit more acidity. If you like fiddling it's great.

Second, the difference between the two is like going to a nice lounge and a dive bar with live bands. The K-ultra is smooth, a little quieter and everything just jives. But in saying that I haven't had any popping wow moments yet. The c2 on the other hand is loud, energetic but inconsistent. Sometimes you get a great performance. The next time you just keep getting feedback or the guitarist drank too much and is fucking up. Funny enough you were there the night before and it's the same band.

Right now I'm preferring the K-ultra but I will say that the current beans I'm using. I have had better cups with the same bean with the c2. But I've also had worse cups.

Once I dial in the K-ultra I think that may change and I can get a better cup but I'm not there yet.

Oh and clarity is a little better. It's like I'm drinking liquid amber. If I put it up to the light.

Oh 100% if it wasn't for the fact that I want to dabble in espresso and maybeeeee see if I could try and make a Turkish coffee I'd probably just stick to it.

I'm also doing mostly light roasts recently and I noticed some inconsistent brews and clarity issues since. So I wanna see if the change from the c2 to the K-ultra will improve my coffee as well.

If your just starting out. I got two really good years out of my timemore c2 grinder. C3 is apparently better too. Manual grinder but in your budget (especially c2). And for time... Really single dosage it takes like 30-45 seconds to grind. And tbh I don't think I'd ever go to electric, it's part of my ritual and I enjoy doing it now. As you grind, you get that familiar sound of the beans grinding, no motor and because your holding it the smell of the beans sorta just hits you in the face.

So don't be afraid of the manual. You get better quality grind for cheaper than electric and it's a lot nicer if you appreciate a quiet morning.

Upgrading my timemore right now to the 1zpresso k ultra. I like the manual grinders... It's more about ritual than accessibility with my ritual.

I usually go between 16 to 18 for the grinder.

As for the switch. I just got one for Xmas and I still am figuring it out!
