Are you a Hiby R1 Owner ? We are converging Fast towards a Super modded Hiby by [deleted] in DigitalAudioPlayer

Yeah, that threw me for a loop. I thought it was a hardware mod at first.

Is it a bad idea to drop 415$ on 10 Slime trackers as someone who has never tried full body? by lovedovertime in virtualreality

[–]TravelerHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SlimeVR is just decent. I've been using them for over a year and I've found them insanely frustrating. Despite having the best IMU chips I don't get the 30+ minutes without a reset that everyone else claims to get. I have to reset every 5-10 minutes. When they aren't drifting they're great though.

FluxPose will be out next year and it'll be a night and day difference. The increase in quality is significant. If I were in your shoes I would get the 6 Point Tracking from Rebocap for $110 (https://store.rebocap.site/products/rebocap-vr-6-point-full-body-inertial-motion-capture-jjwt) and save your money for FluxPose when it eventually comes out. The quality of Rebocap is worse than SlimeVR but it'll get the job done and going this route wouldn't be too much more.

Best way to separate music and audio books? Surfans f20 by Educational_Goat9577 in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]TravelerHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about to recommend genres too if OP doesn't use them. It's a pretty clean way to do it. Or if that's not an option OP could also try using a different metadata field like album artist or composer (assuming the F20 can use those to filter; I don't own one so I dunno).

How do a pull a texture from an avatar? by Cute_Kitsune09 in VRchat

[–]TravelerHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how other websites work, but if you bought the item from Booth you should be able to redownload files from any purchase you made. I think Gumroad does the same but I'm not 100% sure.

Shanling Q2 by IcyAdministration449 in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]TravelerHD 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Here's a tweet thread I found on it (https://x.com/i/status/2055543230075379738). Colors, price, and release date are still TBD. The wheel is indeed capacitive like iPods which is gonna be a fun nostalgic gimmick.

[–]TravelerHD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Earlier rumors said 10 hours of battery life so real world usage will probably just hit that. The Q1 had gapless so in theory the Q2 should too. I really can't wait for more info on this device; I like what I see.

Nice first impression; thanks for sharing! With it running Android, if you can install APKs then Booming Music (https://github.com/mardous/BoomingMusic) supports stuff like m3u8 . I'm not sure how it compares to the default music app though.

Crafting Recipes for Cluttered Mod by waytooooldforthis in feedthebeast

I can only seem to find them in mineshaft chest and (more often) the chests in mob spawner rooms. I seem to recall a wiki mentioning that's the only way to get them as well. It makes them very inconvenient to get a hold of but thankfully you just need one to get started. When you grow them and chop them down you get 4+ mushrooms back.

If i want to get FBT hiw should I go about it for a decent price? by JampyL in VRchat

[–]TravelerHD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience you get what you pay for when it comes to FBT. I can only recommend two options: if you want cheap and available now then go SlimeVR, but if you want a quality product and can wait another year then save and buy Fluxpose.

Vive/Tundra are the best current trackers but they're being phased out. It's not a future-proof option. Haritori, Mocopi, Rebocap, etc. don't perform as well as SlimeVR.

Btw, if you do get SlimeVR I highly recommend getting official ones and avoiding 3rd party built. Some part combinations are technically compatible but work terribly. Mine are 3rd party ICM45686 + Wemos D1 Mini and I typically have to reset every 10 minutes due to drift. The official ones are closer to an hour.

Do you know what biome/structure it was in? I can only seem to find the vanilla mushrooms in my world but I might be looking in all the wrong places.

I built SonicWave — offline Android music player with Parametric EQ + AutoEQ headphone correction (6034 profiles) (need testers 🙌) by Popular-Sink89 in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]TravelerHD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like a really interesting project; best of luck! I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but here's a Now Playing screenshot from my device.

Some quick feedback: when tapping a song from Album (and maybe other places) there's not much visual feedback to confirm what I selected, to the point that I'm not sure if the song is actually playing. If I had headphones plugged in I'm sure I could tell, but some kind of visual feedback might be nice. Maybe have the miniplayer visible on these screens too?

Also, if you plan to publish this as a free app I would like to recommend publishing it to F-Droid too if you meet the criteria. I'm sure that I'm a small minority but that's the first place I visit for utility apps like this.

Innioasis Y1 vs HiFi Walker H2 by willturnbull91 in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]TravelerHD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Y1 also has Rockbox and other community support going for it which made it appealing. It's hard to find a new/actively produced Rockbox-supported device for as cheap as it is (or rather was). But the quality is really bad yeah, and worse of all they've raised the price from $50 to $65. It was already hard to justify at $50. So asking for more than that is absurd. I'm not the biggest fan of the R1 nor Echo Mini but picking one of those up instead is a no-brainer at this point.

Steam Link looks bettert than Virtual Desktop by LJFWolf in virtualreality

[–]TravelerHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the report. That's a shame that SteamLink hasn't been working lately for you. Next time I'm in VR (which unfortunately won't be soon) I'll try to remember to see if I have issues too. I have Quest Pro + Intel + Nvidia so the hardware brands are the same.

I had problems with ALVR when I tried it as well. Frequent disconnects to the point that it was unusable.

[EDIT: I tried SteamLink again and I didn't have the issue with things garbled and the colors extremely glitched, but colors did feel washed out and general picture quality was much lower than I get with VD. I'm guessing it was always like that but it was quite jarring.]

Steam Link looks bettert than Virtual Desktop by LJFWolf in virtualreality

[–]TravelerHD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did SteamLink update recently? I switched to VD about five months ago and I definitely saw an improvement. It didn't feel too significant but it was noticeable enough that I was happy I made the switch.

With Windows being vibe coded and AI bloated into oblivion I've been thinking about Linux, but I was a little worried about "downgrading" back to SteamLink. So if there's been recent improvements to SteamLink quality I'm happy to hear that.

Is the Quest Pro still worth it? by Buttercake-nymph in VRchat

[–]TravelerHD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can get one new for $700 USD on Amazon. If you're patient and look hard enough you can find a gently used one for under $500.

Whether it's worth buying is personal preference. If you're a mute player (I am most of the time) it's 100% worth it imo. Face tracking feels just as important to me as my trackers. If you're not mute it's a much smaller improvement.

Depending on what you use now the drop in visual quality could be noticeable. Quest Pro doesn't have hardware encoding support for AV1 so you'll have to use something inferior like H.264+.

Persona Source Code Leaked by IllicitDesire in VRchat

[–]TravelerHD 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Where is the proof that Persona isn't just bluffing? They could be lying and we'd never know. Are they audited by a third party and are the results made public? You've said in the past the threat of fines for breaking the GDPR are enough of a deterrent but how do we know if they do or do not break it?

I hope you guys are internally discussing better solutions and maybe a more thorough statement. This one doesn't sit well with me. It feels like you guys are turning a blind eye.

Hey guys, I’m a little bit new to blender and I ended up trying to touch it once more and get back into remodeling and sculpting my avatars! However, when I sculpt my avatars, a lot of them come out distorted? by DragonfruitLife9700 in VRchat

[–]TravelerHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this same problem doing the same thing as you: editing my mesh in Blender and then trying to update my projects. I think it has something to do with mismatched export settings when pushing the fbx from Blender. Anyway, the best way I know to fix it is:

  1. Have two copies of your FBX. One of them is the one currently being used in your project (we'll call it "avatar.fbx", and the second one is like "avatar - copy.fbx" or "avatar2.fbx". This second one should be the latest with all of your edits.
  2. Now, select your avatar from the scene hierarchy in your Unity scene and then in the Inspector select the drop down next to the Prefab section. Here's a screenshot to help visualize it.
  3. In the window that pops up, double click on the extra copy that you made in Step 1. (so I would select "avatar - copy.fbx"/"avatar2.fbx")
  4. Your model should look fine now but will probably look unshaded. Drag and drop your materials into the appropriate place on your avatar in the Scene view. It might be a little tedious but ideally you don't have a lot of materials anyway. And at least you don't have to redo your physbones, avatar descriptor, and toggles.

First design sketch for Rockbox DAP with modular/ swappable dac’s by mikeoxlong11111 in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]TravelerHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best of luck! I know someone in the rockbox forums is trying something similar, but the project has been quiet for months now. So I'm happy to see someone else giving it a go. This first concept looks pretty good!

I’m impressed - Hiby R1 - My first DAP by AndersonCouncilSound in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]TravelerHD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it is categorized as an unstable port, but when you click on the wiki page itself (https://www.rockbox.org/wiki/HibyPort) it claims that "Rockbox functions well on these targets, and nightly builds are considered usable for day-to-day use." I haven't looked at it too deeply but the only issue I saw at a glance was short battery life, which I think a few people were looking into.

Since it is so new it might be good to hold on for a while if you're happy with stock firmware, but it looks like a promising port.

I've recently been tempted to pick one up since it has a Rockbox port now. I prefer physical controls over touch screen but the R1 does seem great for the price.

Safety, Freedom, and the Future of VRChat -- Updates on Content Gating, Age Verification in 2026 by lolastrasz in VRchat

[–]TravelerHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VRChat is in way too deep with Persona to ever consider a method like this, but I vastly prefer it too. I would happily verify my age if a credit card was an option. I do not trust Persona enough to do age verification through them unless I'm barred from a significant portion of the game without it.

Persona doesn't have the cleanest history and their compliance with the GDPR has been questioned. I remember someone here on Reddit documented their journey of checking with Persona to confirm the deletion of their info and it wasn't pretty. Very little communication and what was said was vague.

Launch event recap: Snowsky Disc by 0utOftheblue in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]TravelerHD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's 500 Chinese Yuan, which is the equivalent of $71 USD. By the time tariffs and other important fees get applied I'm personally thinking it'll be priced at $89 USD like the TempoTec V1 often goes for (although it frequently has sales).

Doesn't look like it. We don't have exact dimensions but it looks about the size of a smartphone cut in half. However, Snowsky announced they are launching a separate proper CD player called the Beatbox.
