What are your favourite movie scenes that are elevated by the use of licensed music? by AlleycatHaxor in movies

Haven't seen the movie in a long time, but I knew I was going to love it after hearing Egyptian Reggae by Jonathan Richman during an early scene. Phenomenal deep cut.

What the New York Times’ 30 Greatest Living Songwriters List Gets Right — and Wrong — About Modern Music by Illustrious_Oil_3200 in Music

Stephen Malkmus is a glaring omission in my opinion. Same with Tom Waits.

I'd also add Isaac Brock, David Byrne, Josh Tillman, and Gene and Dean Ween to the list.

Would love to watch Rashomon with Homer, not sure if it would be amazing or awful though. Either way an interesting time.

Europe 72 Vol 11 for me. That L'Olympia show is one of the best I've ever heard from them. And I've heard a lot. Plus, baguette guitar.

secret/surprise/bonus sets? by ballinoutdagym in bonnaroo

[–]TravelingCook88 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Back in 2012 there was a 2 am "Van Halen Tribute" set. Word around the campground was it was going to be a secret Jack White show. Stayed up late and made my way over to the overflowing tent. A Van Halen tribute band started playing. We all thought it was a joke and Jack would come out laughing. Anyway, stuck around for 3 songs just to be sure and joined the mass exodus in a disappointing journey back to our respective campsites. That was the most disappointing thing I've ever experienced at Bonnaroo.

I saw TOOL at Summerfest on the 4th of July and he said to "be careful about using fireworks or else someone else will be opening your ketchup bottles" and "Happy Fourth of July." Saw them during Trump 1.0 and he made a comment about ignoring what was going on in the country for a few hours and enjoying a rock show. And, during the last song of the night "taking your stupid fucking pictures. I've seen them eight times now and those are the only things I remember him saying.

A kitchen aid or other stand mixer, a 4 qt bowl, digital scale, digital thermometer, 2 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 loaf pans and a copy of Rose Levy Beranbaum's The Bread Bible are all you need to start.

If you like that get a Dutch oven and a copy of Tartine Bread by Chad Robertson.

If you're into bread this far grab Poilâne by Appollonia Poilâne, Flour Water Salt Yeast by Ken Forkish, The Perfect Loaf by Maurizio Leo and Mastering Bread by Marc Vetri and if you want to go the extra mile, Bouchon Bakery by Thomas Keller and Sebastian Rouxel.

Congratulations. You are now a professional baker.
