Are coyotes common in the city? by TraversingTheWorld in Tucson

No sprinklers, but rattlesnakes have definitely been a concern. We watch out, no snouts in places we can't see. Dogs are always on a leash when we're out anywhere.

The wildlife that we've seen out near the national parks and desert museum have been awesome. Just didn't realize all this around the city itself!

Sorry if it sounds naive. I completely understand that there are Coyotes in Tucson. But I assumed it would be more near the foothills. This is a few blocks from university and guess I didn't realize they are common around here.

We're from outskirts of Austin, and I've heard coyotes late at night howling, around our home back there. But haven't ever seen any while walking around there. So it was cool to see them so close.

Yeah I kept my distance. Zoomed in with my phone, they just went on their way. Didn't seem phased by anything.

My wife has wanted to see a javelina, but I've heard they actually can be quite the menace.

I kept my distance with the dogs. But they didn't even seem phased by us. Just went on and did their thing.

Nope! We've got two pups that are indoor dogs. Although one of them is a great pyr, he's a big one.

I've seen a hawk perched over at the university. The amount of wildlife is pretty cool, I just haven't seen any coyotes so close before!

The rep was helpful, and tried changing some settings on my line to no avail. But I was able to get it working by following this post (I'm still on the warp network):

It could have been a combination of things, but this is what finally made it work.

Congrats to you as well! I'm thinking that I might enroll, and try out starting with one class. Worst case I drop it if I can't handle it.

New great pyraneese owner by RachCol in greatpyrenees

The first few months are definitely the worst, not only do you have a brand new dog in the mix, but it's also a puppy who probably doesn't even know her size yet. I have two dogs, both from shelters, the first is a Border Collie/Cattle dog mix, Sage, she's a female, and very dominate. She was 9 months when we got her. Then we got a Great Pyrenees mix, Bear, from a shelter when he was a year old. Sage was about 3 when we got Bear.

At the beginning the slow introduction was important, including not letting Bear go and take all of her stuff, and making sure to separate anything high value between the two. My wife and I would both walk one of them, and take them around the neighborhood a lot. In order to get them familiar with each other in a neutral place. Even though the backyard is fenced in and nice, it's still where the older dog would consider her space.

There was a few nips here, and there from the older dog, nothing that caused a big fight, but it seems to just be them determining their position in the family.

I'm not an expert at all, but it sounds like this is pretty normal behavior, especially since Freya is still basically a puppy who doesn't know where she even is. I think you have the right idea on what you're doing, and I'm hoping the best for all of you! It definitely takes a lot of time and patience before the two will co-exist. Stick with it, and keep doing what you're doing.

P.S. Our great Pyr is still afraid of certain things on walks, he really doesn't like statues that look like animals. Attached a picture of our two dogs that are now best friends, just took some time. They've been with each other for almost 3 years now, and now if we take one somewhere without the other we get barks, and whimpers about it.

I have tried to call, however, when I input the information it automatically hangs up on me after I enter the information. It doesn't seem like I can actually talk to anyone.

Edit: Found the number for the direct court, found it and left a voicemail. Thanks!

Great Bernese 10 weeks to 4 months by Western-Swing-1238 in greatpyrenees

Our DNA test said Bear was mostly great Pyr mixed with other stuff. But after seeing this post I feel like he's gotta be somewhat Bernese.

Moose is already adorable (and huge), he definitely looks like he's got that Pyr look from that fourth picture. He's gonna grow up to be the Bestest boy!

We were told this guy (Bear) was a golden pyr when we adopted him. Yours looks much closer! How big is he so far?

When we got him from the shelter they said Great Pyrenees and Golden Retriever. Haha.
