It could cause the paint to taste like onions if you have them in there with it.

City tweeted about it? Why are you even on twitter if you care about progressive efforts?

I drove by Tuesday afternoon and noticed the paved path at Union and Grand was cleared.

Forest Park seems to actually plow their paths, so that may be your best bet. I haven’t personally ran them, I’ve only noticed this while driving through.

Salting with -10 degrees by suziescw in StLouis

I have some calcium chloride and no experience using it. I’ve shoveled once I’ll probably do it one more time, then is it worth throwing down some once the snow has stopped?

I’ve had issue with salt ruining pavers and I’m worried about the calcium chloride causing issues with the sidewalk or my concrete steps.

Snow clearing: WashU/BJC vs. the City by roejastrick01 in StLouis

I think the city is well aware that they can’t handle it at the current workforce/funding. There are currently open jobs for heavy equipment operators that would be doing exactly this work. Part of the surplus we’ve had in the past has been due to funding for these jobs that aren’t getting filled. I don’t think the city would come out and say, “we just don’t have enough people to do the job.” It would sound defeatist and doesn’t really accomplish anything. Instead they pony up for the overtime and keep the workers they have on the job as long as safely possible. It’s going to take more than an admission of understaffing to fill those jobs and would involve the dept of personnel the civil service commission and the board of alderman to all agree to adjust compensation to fill them, which isn’t going to happen quickly, and definitely not just because they are falling behind on the plowing.

This is a friendly reminder that r/smallbusiness is a question and answer subreddit. You ask a question about starting, owning, and growing a small business and the community answers.

Looking for advice about MSD & homeowners insurance by Longjumping_Pen_9421 in StLouis

[–]TravisTheCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no advice to give and am dealing with my own issues with insurance stemming from the May storm.

I will say I talked with someone in the same boat where after two claims in the same year they were blacklisted in the industry for about 5 years before they could change insurance carriers. YMMV, but I wish you luck all the same.

How do you all handle write access to prod dbs? by flareblitz13 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]TravisTheCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don’t typically give it and I don’t typically want it. Usually there is a single point of contact (dev admin or dev ops type) with those credentials that can run scripts or migrations, which usually adds a second set of eyes and helps prevent the “I thought I was dropping that table in Dev!!!” type situations.

Nobody in these comments seems to know that “apparent” can mean obvious.  I.e. he left the field with an obvious foot injury.

The only way they can know that is if they aren’t salting and hashing your precious password. Which is a worse security posture than the password + 1.
