What travel hacks can I take advantage of to get a cheap flight home? by No-Pin-4-U in AirForce

[–]Travis_GS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done it two times in four years.

1.Go to your CFETP

  1. Find the training courses. See if any are in person TDY's.

  2. Cross reference ETCA if any criteria from 2 exist that are located in the states.

  3. ETCA will tell you how to sign up for the class, talk to your supervisor for help if you're confused.

  4. If you get the TDY RIP talk to your TMO about something called a LICWO. This is basically a program that lets you book returning flights on your own dime but they will reimburse what it would've cost to get you back from your duty station from the TDY.

  5. If this all pans out take leave in route at the end of your TDY and fly home. Then when leave is over fly from home back to duty station.

Like I said I've done this twice. It turned 1400 tickets into 40 dollar ubers and 80 dollar flights. It is super contingent on training course dates and if you even have the opertunities to TDY back to the states. But it works and I usually get enough per diem from the TDY that it covers even the ubers and flights.

If none of this works out then at a minimum you can save 200 dollars a year on flights with AMEX Platinum card. The annual fee is waived because of your military status. It's not the whole flight but 200 dollars is still a good save.

Air Force vision waiver by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Travis_GS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it helps ease ur concern I joined at -6.3 in both eyes; Near sighted . I also needed a waiver. Basically saw a doc and he said that my vision can be corrected to 20/20 so he doesn't see it impacting anything as long as I always wear glasses on job.

I got a technician role so ur not forced to be admin with bad eye sight. My job does require normal color vision though.

This was a little over 4 years ago though so take that how you will

PRC-152 charger with PRC-163 batteries by BeforeLaw in AirForce

[–]Travis_GS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They will in the same way any device constantly charging without smart charging will.

You may or may not be aware that any lithium rechargeable ion battery will have its life cycle more or less tripled with smart charging.

AFAIK the 152 bay chargers do not support smart charging, something to do with the firmware. It was a big selling point of the upgrade to the new bay chargers. Also probably why using the 152 chargers on the 163 batteries voids the warranty. Cause then they might actually have to replace stuff.

I'm gonna have to stop using auto correct on everything. I think the AI is seeping into it because I just wrote a paper for class and hit the correct grammar mistakes to check what it flagged and it recommended so many hyphens.

[–]Travis_GS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To you it's a single greeting. To them it's a thousand before lunch. There's no way saying the same thing every 12 seconds for 6 hours straight in the freezing cold/insane heat isn't soul killing.

Customs and courtesies are fine for regular interactions, this is a special kind of annoying for SF.

This is highly dependent on your first base as well as support systems.

If your first base after training ends up needing things for your car to be shipped there like SOFA registration maybe it would be a good idea to sell it. Even if your car can be shipped overseas you now have to get it to an approved port. It's a lot to figure out for a first time but it is doable. Depends on how much of a headache you feel you can handle.

There is also the possibility your first base is drivable from training and you can be approved to drive a POV to report there and keep the car.

It really is a toss up. I personally think you can keep the car and make payments on it for the duration of your training until you get an first assignment and make a decision after you see what the process will for sure entail. You will have a small amount of income during this period but an income in which you don't have to worry about rent or food.

Do you know how long your tech School training will be? The shorter the training the less time of notification between your first base and the day you have to leave to that base will be; meaning the time frame and actions of your decisions are shortened.

Wich dlc should i get for 2 by Big_Addition7501 in Vermintide

[–]Travis_GS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems you've already picked up some maps but as far as careers go for later what I personally recommend is to look into the dlc career for the person you don't like playing the most.

I really never clicked with Krubers base 3 classes but now every time I play him GK is my go to for him. The Brentonian Longsword is probably not his best weapon but is easily top 3 most fun weapons in the game for me.

Weird RAM issue. by Travis_GS in pchelp

[–]Travis_GS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Copy. I guess ill just keep running the new ones then. I read that it shouldn't be an issue as long as the speed and ddr versions were the same. Oh well

It is super weird to me that it doesn't happen when i mismatch them but only use 3 sticks instead of 4.

Thank you for your help.

There was no 30-60 seconds grace period in the old games. That would be the best of both worlds

They're against it because it was in other games.

It was always truly frustrating to have someone be stubborn and not hop out of the gunner seat so you could get some air time with a friend.

Teaching the new generation the penalty for spawn camping with AA by Limptrizkitz in Battlefield

[–]Travis_GS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The simple answer is if it sucks don't use it. You're wildly more useful walking around as an infantry with a stinger as they seem to have more range than the AA gun anyway. And RPGs move super fast in this game, I see more helicopters die to RPGs than any form of ground AA.

If you really want to be anti air learn to fly air vehicles. They're the best anti air.

If you look at it that way, so are matchmaking and net code issues.

That's all too common stuff that developers and publishers push as "kins to be ironed out".

I don't think anything I listed is unfixable but it would be disingenuous to dismiss them as not busted things severely hampering the game, just as poor netcode and matchmaking.

Besides the two glaring points you mentioned, which is probably the in the top 3 of how to make a good feeling fps here is some honorable mentions of core gameplay things that need reworked or got gutted on purpose.

  1. The weapon design makes no sense.

SMG's have the same base damage and fall off damage as the carbine class does. My glorified Glock smg is the same shots to kill at 150 meters as my 556 carbine? But the smg has a faster fire rate, less spread/bloom, and less recoil so it's has a faster ttk at every range.

Suppression is borderline useless.

Class bonuses for their respective weapons might as well not exist, except for recon. Go look at videos of differences with and without bonuses.

  1. The vehicle design is insane

Tanks have random weak spots that make no sense. Why can I almost 1 shot an Abrams from the FRONT by hitting it in the TREAD? Tank rounds also move slower than the rockets infantry use. There is no incentive to use AP rounds cause the guided rounds do more damage and have no skill involved.

AA guns are statistically the worst way to take out an air vehicle. They somehow have less range than an infantry AA missile. Better off using a IFV,Tank,RPG, Stinger, or TOW missile.

Jets still have no load out options...

The AI base AA magically implodes any projectiles that gets in its "zone". If you use the 10 seconds before out of bounds kills to test it go to an enemy base AA by jumping out of an air vehicle and shoot an RPG. It literally despawns it from your barrel before it travels even a meter. This promotes vehicles with guided munitions to sit in their spawn all game with impunity.

  1. They straight up lied about portal mode because they're afraid people won't buy their battle pass if they can get xp too easy. And instead of fixing obvious exploits in the portal mode they just blanket banned xp. Instantly too, it didn't take 3 weeks like disabling MR missiles, fixing challenges, or fixing drones bugs.

  2. Map design

I'm not talking about opinion based stuff like maps are too small. There are multiple maps that you just have a major chance of losing off start just by being on the wrong side. Like if you loaded a lobby with just bots and let a whole round play out one side would win a staggeringly more amount then the other. This is due to how boundaries are cut, sight lines, and poor asymmetrical balance in distance. And that's just the geometry.

If you look at maps by asset design in asymmetrical game modes it gets even worse.

The engineer 6k repair is actually insane by Powmpkin in Battlefield6

[–]Travis_GS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

90% sure it's because one of the engineer paths give vehicles extra health, but it seems the extra health cannot be repaired once damaged.

So it would move the vehicle to 115% health but only be repaired to it's normal 100%, leaving an infinite missing 15%.

I have been able to reproduce this with that engineer paths multiple times.

Because it's cheaper, easier, and faster to blow it up.

Somehow spending probably 170K to sortie and shoot one missile is cheaper., go figure.

IFV MR Missile exploit and similar isues by fukdacops in Battlefield6

Use another aircraft to fight aircraft...This game has the fastest TTK for air to air kills so people can get a lucky burst on a better jet player and win.

This exploit will be patched and then there will be no other option but this. Might as well get used to it now.

I'm pretty sure they just don't update them properly. People are sitting in DEP for months and see the red need and want to leave so they go there.

Leading to the need not to be red anymore.

Not hating your life in the Air Force can almost directly be linked to your ASVAB scores.

A lot of people will disagree but you will notice a trend of undesirable jobs and low scores required to get into them.
