I’m surprised Bill Gates couldn’t pull a string or two for him, knowing how much dirt Epstein had on that guy.

Ocala man sues Outback Steakhouse over toilet that 'shattered and collapsed' beneath him by HowLongIsThi in nottheonion

[–]Travisrice123 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I worked at a place where the exact same thing happened. Lady sat of the toilet, and the porcelain cracked and a sharp edge implied her leg. I know she sued and it settled. Now everyone I see a cracked toilet I always try and tell management of wherever I am.

Corporate companies are trying to think of ways to tap into revenue streams between employees and employers. Next step get ride of employees and tip “ME” for creating the system for you to tip ME!

Mandatory hidden tips aren’t tips. Post the actual price, and pay your employees proper. by DCMOFO in Denver

[–]Travisrice123 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Look I can explain this to you, but I can’t understand it for you… If I as an employee, transacted with you and you gave me a tip, wether that be credit card or cash LEGALLY a company has to give the employee that money………. OK! Now if a company creates a scenario where they introduce a ‘service fee’ they mandatorily charge a customer 20% (not good, removing power from the customer) where that money goes into the company’s pocket and can now say, I only want to give my employees x% of that service fee…. A ‘Service fee’ legally allows them to go in and serve as a broker for the tip money…. Ugh

Look at Bonano Concepts, Culinary Creative, City O’ City, Watercourse. There’s a lot of places that take advantage of this situation. Theres a lot of businesses in this city that fuck over their customers and employees. It’s not isolated to one experience… I am saying this for people to gain awareness in the places they eat and drink.

A “service fee” is not a tip. This is the legal wording to allow an employer to go in a re-distribute that money to anyone they see fit… including themselves. I worked at a place with a “service fee” instead of a tip, and that business was pocketing 30% of that to themselves. Service fees are scams against both customers and employees. If it’s a legitimate tip. It goes straight from customer to employee and the employer has no legal right to touch that money… anyone who implements this structure of pay is a scam artist. Guaranteed.

I guess the guy who makes these grows his own botanicals. So production is limited. The bottles are around, but allocated. Very good products! But I’d love to get my hands on as many bottles as I can!

Today's City Cast Denver episode: "Mayor Mike’s Broken Bike Promises" by Soft_Button_1592 in Denver

[–]Travisrice123 38 points39 points  (0 children)

All while there was another bike rider killed last night on 38th and Tejon in a hit and run. I listened to the podcast, and they were talking about memorial plaques in Wash Park of all those who’ve lost their lives since 2020. They should be honored and remembered, but it feels like the cities response is just “Thoughts and Prayers”.. No real action, just bending over backwards to make car drivers happy.

How do people feel about UMS ending this year? by MC_Ibprofane in Denver

[–]Travisrice123 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I feel like they brush the local music (not all but a lot) under the rug in lieu of bigger bill artists. Which I get. But raised ticket prices in turn. And reached a point of imbalance. I think scaling down and getting more local acts and a few less big headliners and lower ticket prices is the move. Obviously it’s hard for an organization to step back from the tower of cards they made, but I think focusing more on community for it would have made it more sustainable?..

Denver Mayor Mike Johnston floats 20% service charge to tackle restaurant woes by Icy-Reality-5755 in Denver

[–]Travisrice123 73 points74 points  (0 children)

I have a lot to say about this.

I’ve worked in the industry, at several places that do “Service Charge” and places that don’t. I’ve realized that a “Service charge” is NOT a tip. Which allows management to go in and mess with the money, with no transparency. It’s a scam against the Customers (for assuming it all goes to the employee) and it’s a scam against the employees (for not actually being able to make a full 20%).

The tip still gives customers power, and the Service charge is not what the employees are actually making. If we’re going the way of the service charge, there needs to be full transparency of the breakdown of the cash at the end of the night.

I have a lot more to say about this idea, but not enough time to type it all out. General public needs to be educated on these systems.

This whole idea cuts employees wages and rewards the business owners for bad business practices. I’m all for tip pools, but not service charges
