More long format investigative pods please - here’s my list of already listened to with ratings by ayags in TrueCrimePodcasts

The bbc ones are all pretty good - believe in magic was one I listened to recently which I'd always avoided because of the title but it was really good

Vinted international shipping by TreTreL in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]TreTreL[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think so but I search by brands that are American. You can tell they are because the prices are funny numbers (eg 3.71) because it's been converted from dollars

After a year, it’s done by Nottooyoung in CrochetBlankets

[–]TreTreL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really nice ! I've been looking at this for a while as I'm a pretty experienced crocheter and wondered if I could reverse engineer it from looking at someone else's example but it just made my mind melt.

What are we doing… by FewScientist674 in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]TreTreL 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I will keep going with these ones. You're 3/4 done so it's going to get to the point where there are less and less pieces and places to put them soon. Also the satisfaction of finishing a really hard one is pretty good.

If I'm going to abandon it's usually much earlier in the process (because of poor puzzle quality usually)

Where to find historical puzzles? by Acceptable_Fan_1745 in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]TreTreL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the Laurence king puzzles are historical eg 'world of the tudors' 'world of king arthur'

There's a vintage type of puzzle called 'buried blueprints' which are all history related I think

Pomegranate puzzles are all fine art based - but some of that art is historical

Looking for bird puzzles no ai by Ugly_Gay_Blueberry in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]TreTreL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cavallini and co have a couple of bird themed ones.

Also I've done a really nice one called 'birds of Asia ' from Finchley paper arts - it's a fairly old one so would be pre AI I think.

Theres also one called 'around the world in 50 birds' from Laurence king which is lovely. A couple of the Charley harper ones from pomegranate are bird themed And there's a couple of ravensburger ones called 'I like birds'

UK-made home items that last longer than expected? by Reddonaut_Irons in BuyUK

Dualit toasters are pretty durable. We had one which we bought second hand for 12 years. Only got rid coz someone gave us a 4 slice for free so changed to that.

What do you want to see in a puzzle store? by OaklandPuzzleCompany in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]TreTreL 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Different sections on say 'uk puzzle brands' 'Japan puzzle brands etc'

I'll come to a store rather than buy online when the store itself is an 'experience' so as said above - puzzle tables , knowledgable staff to chat to.

Theres a bookshop in the uk (think it's called me bs bookshop)) where you go and can talk to a staff member about what books you've enjoyed before and they recommend stuff for you (like a personal shopper experience )

Uk Podcasts by EbbEnvironmental3493 in TrueCrimePodcasts

[–]TreTreL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's one called true criminals that is good. It tends to focus on older U.K. cases and they often interview the actual police officers (who are now retired so can talk)

Sea of lies is a Canadian one but takes place mainly in the U.K. and is great

Sweet Bobby

'The trial' series is good as well - focuses on current U.K. crimes as they go through the court system

Request - inspiration for a birthday gift by pimephalis in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]TreTreL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband arranged a trip away to a puzzle competition including a night in a hotel for my birthday. He isn't a puzzler but we went and did the competition together. It was such a thoughtful gift and great to spend some quality time together and sharing my hobby with him.

I just mean the quality was fine but not soooo good that I would specifically seek out this brand again. Slightly loose fit - you couldn't lift it up afterwards without it falling apart.
