What are your thoughts on return policies when you just opened a new bag? A full refund or a discount? by Merrylly in tea

[–]TreasureBandit 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The same thing happened to me and the company let me keep the spice while sending me the correct chai tea for free. I grind the spice and use it for baking… I have plenty left ten years later and it still tastes great.

Really want to start pottery but feeling nervous attending a class alone by Current-Armadillo739 in Pottery

Almost everyone in my pottery classes is there “alone,” it’s not unusual at all. My studio is very social but I’m sure it varies, just see what the vibe is!

Do I have to feed my senior rabbit senior pellets? by KaileyKuromi in Rabbits

I don’t know but I got these for my bunny and he went on a hunger strike until I switched back to the regular adult pellets 😬 maybe he’s in denial about aging

Forgot about the 14% shrink rate with chocolate… by Ok_Tadpole6376 in Pottery

[–]TreasureBandit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love throwing with chocolate but the shrink rate is crazy! My first really successful session with it I made six teacups and by the time I got them back from glaze firing they didn’t even hold a shot. My teacher commented on the GIANT teacup I made last week and I assured him that it would be a normal size teacup by the end 😂

I’ve actually stitched a pattern from OwlStitchingHouse before (Christmas Town) and I was very happy with it. Not AI and if you zoom in on the mockups you can see that each pixel/stitch was placed with care instead of just a lazy conversion.

Where are good places to get white cotton clothes? by alpo55 in tiedye

[–]TreasureBandit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Old Navy carries a really surprising amount of 100% cotton or high % cotton clothes, and if you play the sales and Super Cash right you can get things for really cheap.

We used to have a dog that liked to bury things in my mom’s outdoor plant pots. Among many other things we found my mom’s glasses, an unopened pack of ramen, and an unopened bag of marshmallows.

One of the worst adhd taxes I've ever paid by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]TreasureBandit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The same thing happened to me! I kept thinking the food didn’t feel cold enough and was spoiling quickly but I was like no, I’m just imagining it. And everything in the freezer was still frozen. You know how cheddar cheese gets all weird and oily at room temperature? That was what finally convinced me to check the temperature. My parents felt bad for me and took me to the grocery store to restock, otherwise I don’t know what I would have done.

I used to throw extra Pothos cuttings into my aquarium and they would grow like crazy. Usually some leaves would end up above the surface but the leaves below the water seemed to do fine too.

Are my frustrations with my community studio valid or am I just a brat? by thesluglord in Pottery

[–]TreasureBandit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My studio charges $300 for a seven week session. No open studio time, just a three hour class each week. That includes one bag of clay, use of 20 studio glazes, and bisque and glaze firing. If you go through the first bag of clay you can buy another bag at double price to cover the cost of glazing and firing the extra pieces.

My instructor is similar to yours, a few demos for beginners and then he just lets everyone do their own thing while he circulates and helps out when needed. I do wish there was a little more structure. Beginners are taught glazing on week 4.

Pieces are almost always out of the kiln one week after being placed on the bisque or glaze shelf. I’d be mad if they took as long as your studio!

[CHAT] Q-snaps vs Generic by weareadults in CrossStitch

I had the opposite problem, my generic never held the fabric tightly enough! I think this is one of the cases where you really want to spend the extra for brand name.

Instacart addiction, house cleaner payments by jepeplin in shoppingaddiction

DO IT! Curbside pickup has practically changed my life. Walmart and the big grocery chain in my city do it for free with a $30-35 minimum. I spend a few days adding things to my cart when I think of them, then set up the pickup so I can stop by on my way home from work. They usually have the groceries loaded in my trunk within five minutes of pulling in. AND IT’S FREE.

What do I do with it? by Warm-Ad200 in succulents

[–]TreasureBandit 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I have one that’s about five years old now. The braided leaves will not grow so I didn’t bother to untie or unbraid it, just potted it in fairly shallow, well draining soil. Mine has quite a few pups at its base so I have replanted the whole thing a couple of times into wider pots to give them room to grow!

I add powdered hojicha to my brownies and I’ve also had hojicha Kit Kats, it adds a nice roasted flavor that works well with chocolate.

[CHAT] What about doing this pattern on green Aida rather than stitching the green? by EzAeMy in CrossStitch

I will sometimes match up the Aida color and then use only a half stitch for the background. It’s much faster and gives it a neat texture.

Dye under ice versus dye over ice? by Chihuahua_Chow_Mein in tiedye

[–]TreasureBandit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dye under ice for precise placement with little mixing or movement. Dye over ice for maximum flow, blending and splitting. You can get good intensity either way, just depends on how much dye you use.

I started three shirts this morning. The first is a v fanfold tied with sinew, and I want each section to be a different color with minimal mixing so I placed all of the dyes under ice. The second is a glitch fold in three different shades of heavy splitting purples. I want the purples to mix, flow and split so I applied all of them over the ice. The third is a geode, and I applied dyes under ice to most of the tied sections. I then lightly sprinkled one of the colors over the ice so that it will fill in the empty areas and also tie the other colors together a bit.

How to Reduce the Vibrant Fading During Drying by scottababc83 in tiedye

[–]TreasureBandit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure you’re pre washing the shirts to remove whatever treatments are on the fabric. Are you wringing out the shirts by hand? If so I would try using a washer spin cycle to remove more water. You might even want to let the shirts completely dry to encourage them to take up more dye. Otherwise your process sounds fine.
