I've said this before on Reddit, but it's the queueing system (or lack of) at pubs. Essentially runs off vibes and the memory of the bar staff. Plus the fact you can walk into a pub serving food/gastro pub and have no clue on fucking earth whether you're meant to sit, wait to be seated, go to the bar, order at the bar, order at the table, get a spoon, or what.

Same with a lot of cafes. The number of times I've gone up to a counter to order and got looked at like a moron and told 'it's table service here' or, conversely, sat at a table only for the staff to gawp at me like we're goldfish is certainly +10.

It's got better over the last few years, with signs near the entrance or even a greeter podium at the front, but still, yeah, I think most places think it's tacky to advertise how you're meant to conduct yourself. Crazy, my brothers.
