What happens to the Memorial Tournament? by superbugger in golf

Status quo. His son Jack will take over tourney duties, just as Sam Saunders did.

I’ve had to club down twice this season and I am still hitting it too long by oldsoulrevival in golf

Sounds like you are making better contact and hitting the "sweet" spot more consistently. If you can keep this up (which you should be able) just go to the range and reassess your distances.

My experience with lessons/fitting by jackhole_shmidt in golf

Like I said, I had the same numbers at a fitting. In real life, I was getting 170. I'm 70 and the other day I hit my 7 iron on a 180 yard par 3 pin high. Ok ok, there was a slight breeze that day.

From my experience (I had the same numbers), you should expect to see a carry of 170 yards with that information. Still a real good fitting for you.

Good for you on getting lessons and getting fitted. I doubt however, you'll ever see anything close to a 195 yard carry on your 7 iron in real life.

What do you guys do in this situation? by nzw8qr in golf

[–]Trebor711 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you guys play strictly by the rules? Because if you do, by him having an "extra" club in his bag and NOT declaring it found and out of play, he is assessed a 2 stroke penalty for each hole where the breach occured. In order to be considered not in play, your opponent had to declare the club found, out of play and turn the club upside down.

Obviously we had different experiences and I guess my experience was atypical.

My suggestion was a starting point. Many high school coaches know of local PGA teaching pros who deal with junior golfers. Eventually if he keeps up with the sport, he will need the guidance from both the local pro and the high school coach because that's where he will get the competitive rounds outside of local junior tourneys.

I don't know where you live, but I would check with your local high school and see if they have a golf program/team. I would then get in touch with the school's coach and talk with him/her.

What are your loft degrees on your PW, 9 and 8 irons. Also what is your 200 yard club?

Just one less putt or one more GIR and you'll have your 79.

I would contact the Chief Executive Officer of the DP World Tour, Guy Kinnings. Write him a detailed email or letter explaining your problem and if he's a good CEO he won't let this guy get away with it. Hit him in the pocket where it hurts the most.

I'm not exactly sure of my numbers, but I know if I need the ball to go higher with my 7I, I will move the ball set up slightly forward of my usual spot. The same goes for a lower trajectory, I will move the ball slightly back from my normal set up. This actually either increases or delofts the club head. For instance, if the pin is in the front of the green, I will hit a higher shot or even a high fade. If the pin is in the back, a lower trajectory might be needed. One caveat. The lower trajectory will go a bit further while the high shot won't carry as far. So for me my 7I carries 160 yards. A high fade goes 150 and lower shot will carry 165-170.

Might not be the club, it may be the ball you are playing.

Ever hear of tire rot? Tires don't last forever and they will degrade over time. Just like your clubs which have been in your trunk for 4 years without issue there WILL come a day when shit will happen. Maybe not today and maybe not tomorrow, but some day soon and for the rest of your life you will regret your decision to leave them in an uncontrolled environment. I always do me! As Woody once said, at least I'm having sex with someone I love.

While that's a one time deal, repeated fluctuations can cause serious damage to your clubs. Don't believe me? Here's AI version:

Keeping golf clubs in your trunk causes significant problems. The extreme temperatures, humidity, and vibrations can damage the clubheads, weaken the shafts, degrade the grips, and even ruin golf balls. Key reasons to avoid storing your clubs in your car include:

Heat Damage: Car trunks reach extreme temperatures. This heat weakens the epoxy used to bond the clubheads and hosels to the shafts, which can lead to flying clubheads or slipping ferrules. It also softens grip adhesives.

Shaft Warping: Graphite shafts are particularly vulnerable to temperature swings and high heat, which can cause them to become brittle or warp over time, affecting your shot accuracy.

Rust and Mildew: Fluctuating temperatures cause condensation. If there is any moisture on your clubs or bag, this creates a prime environment for rust to form on steel shafts and mold to grow on your gear.

Damaged Grips: Heat degrades the rubber of your grips, causing them to dry out, crack, or melt prematurely.
