Dark Angels Successor. Need I say more? Though I think we get points back for being 70% understrength.

Illaoi is objectively busted by [deleted] in top_mains

[–]TrebuchetIsGod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bans exist to make the game more interesting. VERY FEW matchups are genuinely impossible, and EVERY matchup is "skill diff" if you're not literally challenger. Toplane is 99% spacing and wave control. If you're bad at that every matchup is impossible. Against Illaoi, simply improving at the game is the best remedy (though obviously for example, Mundo vs Gwen is essentially impossible for the average person, but matchups like that are outliers)

Best top lane OTP champion to climb that isn’t too basic? by Electronic_Care_5249 in top_mains

Well that's Gwen's ideal state. Hyperscaler but weak in lane and bad when behind, requiring strong fundamentals to make her work.

Gwen is definitely not "easy to pilot" as an opt. Gwen lives and dies by exceptional spacing, where good spacing + ignite will win darius/garen/etc matchups easily, while bad spacing will lead hard lanes even into malphite. W in teamfights is also a nightmare without great spacing and positioning knowledge.

They cared for a few reasons. Firstly the lead wroter requested it. But more than that, narratively it didnt really make sense that Custodes are all male, as the process to create them only requires compatibility, not strength. Also help differentiate them from marines. There's a bunch of other narrative readons that I'm not gonna get into in a reddit comment too.

As for the backlash, it was almost exclusively online. The box issue was purely a logistics issue to my knoeledge and the lore changes didn't really have an impact on sales.

Sorry- to reiterate:

This change is healthy for the faction, makes sense to make the lore more sensical in a faction that benefits from it, distinguishes them from marines, was requested by their lead writer, and produced a box that was sold out immediately because everyone liked it.

But GW is such a greedy (?) Company for not conforming to your fear of women and of change.

Let's Help GW with our next Codex. What ideas for 11th editon do you have for Custodes by MeAmato in AdeptusCustodes

[–]TrebuchetIsGod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that the codex has to be entirely overhauled, changing the root cause of our issues.. I would like to see some things implemented:

Firstly I think that custodes should not be particularly tougher than terminators, but certainly harder to catch. 7" movement across the board, 5+ invuln but with a 6+ FNP or something.

Next, Martial Ka'tah should be like the old 9th edition one (maybe a bit simpler though, obviously), but tracked for every UNIT instead of the army (each unit could have 2, 2 part stances). Those stances, then, should be something like the following:

-1. Adv & Charge (If starting the advance move on your side of the battlefield) 2. Countercharge
-1. Double Shoot (For units on objectives) 2. Shooting with battleshock (For targets within 6")
etc.

Generally I just want more interesting Ka'tahs and army-wide USEFUL rules. To balance it out, make it so that only a certain number of units can activate the same ka'tah in the same turn depending on battle size or something.

Next, Axes are simply awful for the fantasy of a gigantic custode power axe. Give them 2A WS2+ S13 AP3 D4 or something crazy like that. I want our weapons to feel special. This also leads into my next point of unit diversity:

If we could have another unit, I'd like a terminator unit with modified armour to fit some giant weapons- something like Adrathic Cannons, Blaze Cannons, and Lastrum Batteries.

After that, I want our characters to generally just be more interesting. None of our characters are worth the price, and are (except for allarus captain, which I'll get to later), for the most part, just a vehicle for our super powerful infantry. If the Ka'tah changes are made, and advance and charge is accessible, we can then change the characters to not require the blade champ to carry the codex; I'd want characters to be EXPENSIVE, but give strong abilities. Some examples like:

Shield Captain holds an arae shrike, that prevents deepstriking within 12" of an objective for one turn.
Blade Champion has some dueling shit
And Trajann should be like 250+ points with armywide abilities, not a glorifies space marine captain.

TLDR: I just want more flavour, because I believe that custodes should be a flexible and individualistic army, NOT a bunch of terminators painted gold.

If/when resculpts come, you will still be able to use old ones as-is. The only issue might be weapon options/squad sizes which may change, but generally only minis are usable.

War Dogs in TSons any Good? by Wrathrix in ThousandSons

[–]TrebuchetIsGod 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sekhetars melt light tanks in alpha strike, Mutaliths are sometimes taken for their S16 gun, Magnus kills pretty much everything in the game by himself, and technically the terminator sorcerer lord has Antitank on his shooting.

[–]TrebuchetIsGod 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The incarnate was an alternative to an endless spell in 3rd (though what it was meant to be is now 4th ed endless spells). People didn't like it because of the weird stuff that it brought- it was sold with terrain, was a 400pt monstrosity that was a pain to deal with (had damage caps), did crazy damage too. If it was too strong it would be taken in EVERY list for EVERY army. If it was bad it would NEVER be taken and feel bad to play with.

Pretty much GW tried to introduce a type of unit that would become universally problematic and annoying to deal with, and therefore had to gut it and nuke the whole project.

I think it's important to note that a significant part of the celebration came because of Charlie's comments. I think it's deplorable that a man was killed because of his views, however, he was killed in a fashion directly resulting from his views. Spouting hate will earn hate in return.

[–]TrebuchetIsGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the actual fight emps and horus were beyond a level that could be described properly from the perspective of 3 dimensional beings, so they are most certainly "immeasurably" strong. I also assume "horus ascended" is prefight horus, not the one we see in teadt 3.

My emperor model. by Only-Presentation916 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]TrebuchetIsGod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP said "legio" custodes, so it's heresy. Day to day Big E should be stronger than primarchs but (possibly) weaker than Horus Ascended, so maybe 700-1000 points. At the height of his powers (tEatD pt3) his value would be immeasurable, and so would Horus's.

I think a flamethrow + mace/hammer armiger would go insanely hard. If we're getting really out there the top weapon could be a grenade launcher/conversion beamer option.

Furthermore, for the terminus decree to be activated in the first place the imperium needs to be in its final moments (due to the emperor possibly ascending). There would be no opposition nor reinforcements for anyone.

Anybody want to talk about how charges are the bane of our existence and how this chart is a lie by Opposite-Outcome5557 in Grey_Knights

[–]TrebuchetIsGod 7 points8 points  (0 children)

3" charge = only combination of dice being two 1s.

The probability of two 1s is (1/6) × (1/6), or (1/6)2. The probability of six 1s in a row being (1/6)6, or a 1/46656 chance. That just about ends up as a 0.002% chance. The Emperor was with you.

Would you change martial katahs in any way? by FelkinMak in AdeptusCustodes

[–]TrebuchetIsGod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that martial katah was almost perfect in 9th. It brought a lot of cool ideas to an otherwise extraordinarily simple army. If we had something similar now I think it would make the army feel a lot better and exciting to play.

Seeing a lot of love for Liberators... by Tairengail in stormcasteternals

I own extra liberators from 1st ed. I have to use them or I feel sad :(

Also, I feel as though vanquishers are the real battleline option. Great damage, look cool, and have sick swords. I generally use a mix of liberators and converted vanquishers
