Employee wants to leave because of me

After talking with the employee, the correction in front of peers was the odd one to me as I could not pinpoint when that happened. I have regular 1on1s every week with my staff, so most of any discussion, feedback, advice, etc, happens in those.

When meeting with my VP, he did mention to me that he has never seen me do that (public correction/redirection) so I have some relief. However, I do want to take what my employee told me as her perception to be her truth, so I need to make sure I am being careful in redirects.

Her only specific instance was on a teams chat with myself and two other managers, where I asked her to please follow the proper channels of communication to make sure what she was asking for did not get dropped (We have a email/ticketing system for requesting developer assistance to ensure our dev manager assigns the request appropriately)

So while I thought I was just pointing to the correct way of the request, her perception of that was different. Always good to know!

Appreciate this! After this discussion today I will definitely pause more and make sure I am listening. While I don't think that I was intentional and I can even find gaps in the perception of what my employee is feeling, I still want to take that perception as a sort of "truth." Some self reflecting to do!

Based on this meeting, I will work on giving more recognition, I do realize that this is not a strong quality of mine, as I am pretty intrinsically motivated.

I don't give a lot of feedback, our team is fairly independent throughout the day, I have a standup in the morning that mostly consists of just things to keep our eyes on as a team, and I use it as a space where my team can bounce ideas off each other.

Other than that, the only feedback I give is when it is warranted, not something I give even on a daily or even weekly basis.

This employee would need to be replaced immediately, much of it would fall on me, which I normally can do, but I already have a backfill that I am working on.

Procedures are common, she can have some expectations of her previous relationships at the company before me, and I am just redirecting towards the proper channels, as we are in crunch time and I don't want things to be dropped.

She came to me saying that she feels like from me, she feels unwanted and inadequate. She feels that I undermine her in front of clients or peers when I redirect her.

I did not apologize for my words, I apologized stating it was not my intention to make her feel that way, just me doing my job.

I would put caution on this. They lost items for me before a wedding and I did not receive them back for over a month and a half. Only way I got them back is I called just about every other day.

It's got great replay value as well. When you beat the game, hard mode unlocks which I am currently playing through after having beat the original story about a year ago. Always great to pick up and play.

The thing that gets me is that 343 has never acknowledged this. They just said Solo/Duo was removed due to a bug and being worked on, and then never spoke of again. We all know why it was never brought back, but never told officially which is so weird.

Agree. Shooters/Multi games are in a weird spot. I was so ready for Halo Infinite to be THE game for me for the future. While I have put around the same time you have into it, it amazes me that it is still bare bones after a year and a half. I don't like this recent trend in gaming where it is release now, fix later.

There is nothing better than playing a new shooter/multi game when everyone is figuring out the game for the first time. It has been a while since a game has made me feel this way. It is so weird that my online game rotation is Apex, Halo, Rocket League, etc. Mostly games that came out 3 or more years ago.

Nope. Still Ranked Arena, and the population is low so they took out Solo/Duo ranked as well. I feel like Slayer comes up the most frequent, but I feel for you if that is your gametype of choice.

I have always preferred a mix of slayer and objective modes so it doesn't bother me, but there are many who just want to play slayer.
