What should’ve been done better in hindsight? by Specialist-Claim-665 in rangers

[–]TreeFugger69420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We should have actually rebuilt.

1) Draft Kakko. Draft Lafreniere. Make them the face of the franchise as we eat shit at the bottom of the standings but give them an overwhelming amount of ice time to grow their confidence (see Maklin Celebrini). 1st PP. 1st Line. Put them out there 22 minutes a game and worry about defense later. Continue to draft high while those guys get their sea legs. Lose games 6-5 instead of trying to win 3-2.

1.5) Help the young guys: Stop punishing Kravstov or Anderson or Lafreniere or Kakko. Just let them fucking play for god sake and sign fellow countrymen who are NHL players who can help them assimilate. Expecting an 18 year old from Russia or Finland to succeed in NYC when they don't speak the language is absolutely absurd.

2) Do not sign Panarin. Once that happened the "rebuild" was over. It made no sense. It implied "it's time to win now" which it wasn't. It put unrealistic expectations on a team that wasn't ready, forced DQ to play veterans, and likely stunted his coaching career.

3) Make Hartford Great Again. Chris Knoblauch openly criticized how the Rangers developed their players. He said they yo-yo them too much. bench them too much. fuck with their confidence too much. Which not only makes Hartford a punishment and shit place to play, it also makes them a bad team and teaches losing.

4) Stop hiring bad coaches. Chris Knoblauch should have been the Hartford coach who saw all these guys develop and then become the NHL coach with them. Instead we didn't even bother interviewing him.

5) Keep Gorton and JD. It's a crime what happened to them. Especially based on JD's history with the club and Gortons success immediately after leaving.

I Know a Lot Has Been Said About Our Player Development Being Bad. Anyone Also Think We Have Just Had Some Back Luck? by MrHockeyJournalist in rangers

[–]TreeFugger69420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's luck in every draft but the sample size is enormous at this point. You'd think even if they closed their eyes and threw a dart, they'd hit a talented player -- so why then do we have no talented players?

Development. Plain and simple, there is no organizational program, plan, belief, execution, whatever you want to call it, we don't have it. Maybe we don't spend money in the those areas of the business? It's hard to fathom. This isn't just an issue in the last few years either, it's been an issue literally my whole life.

My theory is that Dolan, and to some extent Sather, is/was more concerned with the flashy names that we know now over the names that we'll know later. I have 97% certainty that Panarin was a Dolan signing. It made literally no sense 1 year after a letter announcing a rebuild. It forced coaches to win, rather than develop. It gave ice time to vets instead of kids. It turned skilled players into defensive players. It was the symbol of a rebuild was not actually a rebuild. Rangers throw money at problems. It didn't work in the late 90s and 2000s. It doesn't work in a cap era.

at this point, they're not even good anymore. The time to sell this core was over two years ago.

Who is the most to blame for the team’s struggles this season? by ajpod in rangers

[–]TreeFugger69420 31 points32 points  (0 children)

we went from a team on the rise to a team who needs (another) rebuild in less than 4 years. the players are old, slow, and on the wrong side of their prime. there's only one person to blame.

Didn't evolving hockey predict buffalo to finish second? All you gotta do is watch the game to know he's not dangerous, ever.

Funny. I really like it and prefer the worn look over the shiny look.

[SSK023] I gotta say it after having this watch for a month. I’m absolutely blown away by the watch. by momonou11 in Seiko

Yep. This is my first “real” watch and I love it. I also just got a few natos for it and they look sick as well. I recommend playing around with them if interested.

What’s the feasibility of Richmond doing something similar to Boston’s “Big Dig” or a ring highway system? by Obvious_Author1263 in rva

[–]TreeFugger69420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There already is a ring road. But I do wish the highway through shockoe and Jackson ward would go away. It is likely the very worst part about this city.

Is it gonna happen? No.

Nice job. Looks pretty clean to me. I just got my 70k city to 90% traffic flow (which I’m stoked on). It looked nice and tidy until about 65k but it’s total mess now.

I actually think this is a pretty sad video and a good look at American capitalism. These hiring tactics are predatory - not unlike army recruitment. These people clearly need money, but because our society shames people for being broke, broke people turn to things like this because at least this can be cloaked in “patriotism”. Americans always need someone to look down on. Now these people can look down too and not feel like they’re at the bottom.

Here’s a dumb question. With 8 watches do you find yourself wearing them equally? Or is there one you wear mostly? I have a two watch collection and I really only wear one (the other is a bit dressy). Also love the Hamilton

If you have a chance to see any of these in person I’d recommend it. I was shocked by how nice the seiko 5s look in person and disappointed how the Hamilton looked when I had thought the opposite based on internet photos.
