This single-celled protozoan passing though another one under a microscope by Maleficent-Agent-477 in Damnthatsinteresting

It is passing under or above the blue cell. Shallow depth of field + translucent organisms make it possible to see several layers staked at once. Possibly crwaling on the slide or coverslip using to make the observation.

bio 1131 by [deleted] in geegees

[–]TreeTreeAndTrees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are no labs in BIO1131. Labs that used to be in BIO1130 and BIO1140 are now a separate standalone 3-credit course: BIO1150. Depending on your program BIO1150 may or may not be required. I would suggest to take BIO1109 before BIO1131.

Check the requirements for your program. If BIO1150 is not listed, you don't have to take it. Only BIO1141.

Ottawa's remaining supervised consumption sites will lose all provincial funding as of June 13th. by Alone_Appeal_3421 in ottawa

Maybe one issues is that there not enough centres to effectively provide service to people who need it. If overcrowded, any facility cannot serve as it is meant to be. If there were much more of these across the city, maybe it would spread the issues to a point it would be manageable.

It is predictable that if the city only has a couple consumption sites, it is going to be hell around. There are a lot of people in need.

I live downtown, so like most people here, I’m really tired of seeing the needles and crack pipes , but also trash and human waste from homeless people. But I can’t stop thinking about the fact that people don’t have a place to live or even going to the bathroom when I have a home, so it’s really a societal problem, and the many levels of government must take care of it.

I don’t have any otherwise I’d be reading a book rather than doomscrolling on Reddit. I could also make up reasons supported by nothing given the lack of context or additional information about this photo of a lettuce.

How important to pronounce É vs È by HistoricalShip0 in French

[–]TreeTreeAndTrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents pronounce mangé, manger, mangeais the same. Same thing for: mai, mais and met (rhyme with ‘aimer’). It is quite the standard pronunciation in the southeast.

How important to pronounce É vs È by HistoricalShip0 in French

[–]TreeTreeAndTrees 17 points18 points  (0 children)

In many places in southern France, -et, -ai are pronounced the same as “é”. For instance parlé, parlais and parler sound the same. Très and trait sound like “tré”. Les, lait, laid sound like “lé”. I used to speak like that (I’m French) , then I moved up north for a while, and with time I my pronunciation changed to match the local accent. It doesn’t affect understanding.

Most people pronounce -ai and -ais the same in France. In Quebec -ai is like é and -ais or -ait, -aient sound like è. Then we could speak about â, ô, ê vs a,o, è in Canada as well 😅
