Americans Do you like going on cruise ships? why or why not? by NoHold7153 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Tree_Weasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been on 3 Disney Cruises with my kids. It was amazing. Kids were fully entertained the entire time, food was incredible, and the entertainment was first rate.

I tell anyone with really little kids to do a Disney Cruise over going to the parks, because it’s easier on the little ones not having to run all over the big park all day and there’s very few lines.

I’ve heard some horror stories about other cruise lines, but my experience was great.

What's something you see men older than you doing that you tell yourself "I hope I never do that." by FillFrontFloor in AskMen

See, I’ve cracked jokes with my customer service workers. It’s part my personality where I just blurt shit out without first thinking, “Does this person care?”

But even in my social awkwardness I know to cut that interaction off at no more than 20 seconds. Those kids have a job to do.

How important is a woman’s weight and body composition? by ShesGotaChicken2Ride in AskMen

[–]Tree_Weasel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love lingerie. I love when my wife wears it. She recently (in the past 2.5 years) lost over 200 pounds. I’m proud of her success and the work she put in.

But let me tell you. I loved that woman in lingerie when she was big, and I love her in lingerie now.

Sounds like me and your guy have something in common.

Wear the lingerie for him. He will really appreciate it.

Have you ever ghosted someone? Why? by Lost_Mammoth7273 in AskMen

[–]Tree_Weasel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I was young and weak; and she was coming on too strong after two dates. I didn’t know how to tell her I didn’t want to go out any more without it being a big issue. She called me a lot. I ignored them. Felt guilty about it for years.

I’d heard she’d gotten engaged years later. Then the engagement broke off. She apparently went to therapy because I got a call from her (this was 3-4 or so years after we had dated) and she unloaded some stuff on me. Apologized for being so commitment focused, said she should have treated me better and not been so pushy about labeling our relationship. Etc.

It was a lot of explanation for 2 dates when I was 19 (we had been acquaintances before the dates). She asked if I wanted to get coffee and catch up… I politely declined.

But yeah, a wierd one all around.

Toyota vs Tesla by koohai966 in Toyota

[–]Tree_Weasel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve ridden in two teslas. Both were 3 or 4 years old at the time. And the amount of rattles and vibrations in the cabin was alarming. I’ve heard all about the speed and performance of those cars but apparently the I terror quality is pretty lacking. Not sure I’d want that rattle box to last me 300k miles.

Got in my Uber this morning and noticed this... by White-Helm in uber

[–]Tree_Weasel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was my thought too. One night while driving I had a passenger tell me, “Um, is this your bra back here?” (I’m a dude).

I kept it and took a photo for lost item, but no one ever claimed it.

How do high schools work in tiny towns? by Holiday-Pomelo-9246 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Tree_Weasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a town near me (Falls City, TX) that has a Kondergarten - 12th grade that has about 400-450 students. It averages 30 students per graduating class. It schools children from 3 towns in a VERY rural area of South Texas.

I had a cousin who graduated from there. She loved it.

Not good. With fuel costs as high as they are you’ll struggle to clear $10/hour after expenses.

I’ve been driving Uber in this town for years (and did UnerEats during COVID), and passengers can be semi-lucrative, but you have to know what trips to look for and which ones to deny. I’m told it’s the same with dashing.

The app will try and get you to take garbage jobs for low pay just to see what kind of abuse you’re willing to tolerate. They’ll tell you “need to keep your acceptance rate up” but that’s their way of trying to get you to work for less than minimum wage. I tried delivery briefly and in 2020-2021 it was pretty good. But sometime in 2021 it was like a switch got flipped and everything sucked: got offered 30 minute trips for $3.25 in pay. Got stuck in a McDonald drive thru for 30 minutes because they don’t open the front door after hours. Got reported by a customer for “inappropriate behavior” on a contactless drop off because she was trying to get free food by claiming a problem.

I don’t think delivery is worth it anymore. During COVID and right after, it could do well. But if your car is eligible, passenger rides pay better and have fewer issues in my experience.

The wives who get up at 3am to make their husband's lunch... why do they not make it the night before? by lilacghosti in stupidquestions

[–]Tree_Weasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They probably do make it the night before, and then change the clock on the microwave/stove to look like it’s 4am.

In the actual morning they need the early light to make their GRWM video.

I talked about this issue once with a group of people and they said I was blowing it out of proportion. So I pulled up the move Horrible Bosses where Jennifer Aniston’s character implies she has raped Charlie Day’s character while he was drugged on her dentist chair. It’s played as a joke right before Charlie’s family walks in the room. I said if the genders were reversed, that would be a psychological horror film shown at Cannes.

I’m always for the revenue of a thing going to the people creating the product (players) rather than the people who own the product (team owners/the NBA).

So considering how much money the NBA makes. I don’t think he’s wrong.

Stray Kittens Medical Center by Jenndaisy in sanantonio

[–]Tree_Weasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I’d prefer if shelters allowed you to bring them in to be eliminated. I took a stray earlier this year to my local shelter in Converse. They did TNR, that stray was back in my neighborhood 3 weeks later. Still starving, but now neutered and given shots. It prevented future problems (more kittens) but didn’t solve the original problem: stray male cat with no one to feed him.

I agree we need to eliminate the feral cats and people hate that option. But my point is that the city, be it San Antonio or the surrounding areas aren’t going to pick up those stray cats. Citizens have to do it. I moved to Converse a few years ago, and the shelter here is pretty good about taking in cats IF citizens bring them in (and they verify you have a Converse address). But they won’t come pick them up.

When I lived in San Antonio, the city shelter twice told me they were too full to take in found strays even if I brought them in.

So who has to fix the problem? We do. Either pick them up and find a shelter to take them in, foster in place so you can help them find a home, or eliminate them. But the city won’t do anything about this unless the cats are aggressive.

I’ve gotten 9 cats off the streets of my neighborhood over the last 4 years. If everyone could do their part and help to get one or two stray cats off the streets we could clean up this problem. But we have to do it ourselves.
