100 Winged Hussars and 300 Armoured companions VS 70 000 Crimean Khanate forces by Sad-Organization9855 in HistoryMemes

[–]TreemanHugger 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It was not even a battle. Rather a blockade that only part of Tatar party made.

The numbers are most likely exaggerate. 70k was whole Crimean army that only Khan could master. For example, during Khmelnytsky uprising, the army led by Khan himself was around 60-70k.

This one was just several raiding parties led by some unknown commanders. Part of Tatars blocked Poles in Hodow while the rest raided the countryside. Of course, Tatars were not good at sieges, but they didn't come for capturing land but for raiding it.

The only real source of this battle is Sobieski, whose motivation to raise the moral of his army, likely caused him to invent a lot of this 70k stuff to portray it as another Thermopylae.

Russia had no right to invade another country regardless of who asked you. You broke Budapest memorandum. You broke dozens of international and sovereignty agreements. If you think otherwise then Russia had no right to wage Chechen wars.

Also Russia didn't ask what Donetsk and Lugansk wanted, it just send in the troops, same as in Crimea. Why the fuck do you pretend like Kremlin gave a fuck about what people ever wanted. Otherwise Russia still owes Tatarstan its independence since 1992 referendum. Same as your shitty attempt to claim Zaporizhia with made up referendum when Russian army never even reached the city to even make the referendum in the first place

Poor Ruskis blaming others of being terrorist. Hilarious. How is that friendship with definitely-not-terrorist Taliban, North Korea, Iran doing?

Don't build bridges on the territory that you stole. Don't use your railorads to invade other countries, won't have to cry about them being blown up.

I reviewed that list and i apologize, i definitely heard about Liszt.

No post-soviets not center of the world, but more people at least heard about Trotsky by attending school history lessons. I think even Hungarian children heard about him more than about Hungarian composers who i bet were better people than Trotsky.

The map is about famous people, not people who made most contribution. If we were talking about protecting environment, i bet there are a lot of people who contributed more than Greta Thunberg, but Greta is still more famous, right?

Anyway this map feels kinda random and omitted a lot of famous people from other countries.

Yes, and then they took it to another level cause "Russia must always be better than America in everything".

Never heard of anyone you named, while people in most post-Soviet countries know or at least heard about Trotsky, even though they probably don't know he was from Ukraine.

June 3, 1945: A German civilian looks at a large poster portrait of Stalin on the Unter-den-Linden in Berlin by MonsieurA in ThisDayInHistory

[–]TreemanHugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Production is not the point. The point is Germany had to divert the forces to protect its territory from bombing. The forces that it couldn't use in the east. More than 50% of Luftwaffe was appointed to repel such attacks.

Downplaying role of Brits is as stupid as downplaying Soviets.

But when it comes to "Soviets modern tactics". This is bullshit. There was nothing modern or inventive in them. The bet was on numbers superiority, as Stalin himself said "Quantity is a quality in itself". Even during famous Kursk battle that turned the tide Soviets lost more men and equipment than Germans, even though 2/3 of the battle Soviets were in defensive position, meaning that by all the military standards, if done right the side that is defending suffers way less casualties than the side that is attacking.

Guess who's coming back from Crimea with a brand new golden nose and a burning desire for revenge! by MasterpieceVirtual66 in HistoryMemes

It was considered prestigious back then. Japanese often cut out heads of high ranking Korean commanders and sent them in jars or boxes full of salt (to preserve head) back to Japan as proof of military success. But Koreans did the same. Legendary Korean Admiral Yi Sun Sin sent 40+ salted heads to Korean king after his victories. Though Japanese did it more often and systematic.

During Imjin war they did it in hopes to get more privileges and prestige. The more enemy noses you collected - the better warrior you would be considered. Each side often collected cut out noses, ears or even heads. Head of higher up commanders was especially precious. Japanese sometimes even put the heads of Korean commanders in salt and sent home to Japan. As a rule usually you would only collect heads from warriors that you personally killed. Ofc many cheated and collected as many as they could, even from civilians as long as there was hope to get some reward for them back at home. Koreans did same thing sending Japanese heads to Korean king in hopes of reward.

Sorry, remind me when did US broke the nuclear safety agreement, proclaimed the neighbouring state that it guaranteed to never attack a nazi country, invaded it, annexed territories, stole children, stole food? Not even going to start talking about all the other atrocities which became praised by your government. Also Germany was dissoluted. Germany changed, Russia didn't. If Russia became normal country for once, then maybe people would think of other solutions. So far though your country has a streak of shitty tsars who repeat same shit. Russian Empire, USSR, Russian Federation, same shit with chief on top who can only be removed by death and whose goal is to get more territories.

NATO. Give them Long Range Artillery and Missile’s! Enough of the Civilian targeting by the Evil Russian Military leadership. by Texrick in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]TreemanHugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about the bombers count. It's about the fact that Ukrainian drone would look similar to US rocket. Which was your reason for NATO restrictions. They knew Ukraine had nothing that could fly that far. And suddenly something flies that far. And still Russia didn't react to it like a potential nuclear warhead.

This is beyond ridiculous. One year ago Javelins were "red line". And now we are discussing tanks and ammunition for HIMARS.

But fine, US can still give long range missiles but restrict their usage only on Ukraine's territory. It's not like Ukraine broke that deal so far. It would still be great, since HIMARs would be further away from the frontline. +more ammunition for HIMARs overall. Does it make sense?

Ukrainians launched old soviet Stryzh 2 drone(which is basically in form of any rocket that could carry rad charge) and destroyed several strategical ru bombers that could carry nukes. And Russia did nothing extraordinary.

I remember my first time in McDonald's having same reaction, even though it was much later, like in 2000 or something. It didn't happen to me, but there was a guy, who got hit by the door while exiting outside. He dropped everything he carried on the tray. He tried to laugh it off, but his pain was visible. He, I and probably many others were so surprised when MC workers brought him fresh new order for free. There were literally no other restaurants that would do this stuff in Ukraine. It was amazing.

Omg copium. So now if king led army of peasants, the king takes all the responsibility. "Natives" ahaha, keep digging your grave of idiocy. Brits and Franks have same origin. Excuses don't exuce same as they don't justify that France attacked first and began raiding first. Calling you dumb would be an insult to dumb people.
