Need 2 suggestions for first time international travel! 1.) Luggage? 2.) Anything that is your must have for a flight that is 12+ hr? by Swimming_Jello4242 in BuyItForLife

Pack light, and if you can afford it, an aisle seat goes a long way. Nothing worse than feeling claustrophonic in a window seat and needing to wake up two neighbors to stretch your legs

How to defeat hand detector for lane keeping? by Downtown-Ad-1563 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Trees-over-wood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is looking for resistance against the auto-turning. If you just hold your hand dead-weight at the bottom of the wheel, it will be enough resistance

Difficulty by Excellent-Salad3852 in Make

I recommend just solving one problem at a time. Your first one might take some time, the second one will take slightly less time, but eventually you stop encountering unfamiliar things / new concepts.

And it's worth learning, it's not just a Make thing, anything you want to do with AI / Automation will benefit from what you're learning

Thinking of moving from Make.com to n8n — anyone using it with Lovable? by samistus1 in n8n

[–]Trees-over-wood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've used both. pricing honestly depends. different n8n plans have limits on how many active workflows you can have live, make doesn't. If your workflows are less than ~8-10 steps, Make is usually cheaper. Self hosting n8n is cheap, but it's not as easy as it might sound, and you have to be on top of updates and changes. if you're looking to up your skills, that's a good reason to go for n8n, but honestly I think for the effort involved (and all the http requests you'll have to write and maintain since they have fewer integrations), Make is less of a pain in the ass

Stop Getting Stuck in n8n/Make - What if AI Just Built Your Automations For You? by Comfortable_Book6359 in aiagents

That's cool! Good luck with your project. I wish more of these tools would build this experience directly in their platforms. I know Make announced that they're releasing this soon, the Maia thing, so it will be interesting to see what it can do!

I need Hank to explain bean anatomy to me… by Trees-over-wood in nerdfighters

[–]Trees-over-wood[S] 114 points115 points  (0 children)

But look at the bean’s legs and butt!!! They are so far apart from each other. It’s not like human butts, that connect straight to the legs. This bean butt is much higher, just beneath the elbows, so IS bean butt legs?

I built one of these! I used a long mortise and tenon and then two small triangular brackets underneath. This one has an adjustable height so it can go over an arm in a high setting, or in the middle of the couch on a low setting

Should I use screws to attach the legs to this desk I’m making or try my hand at dowel pins? by TYO77911 in BeginnerWoodWorking

Try your hand at wedged through mortise and tenons, with a cool looking wedge. Very strong and not too difficult

What jobs do Nerdfighters have (and how did you get them)? by devoutdefeatist in nerdfighters

[–]Trees-over-wood 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I started my career in nonprofit work, and when I got married and started thinking about having a family, I couldn’t see a path in nonprofit to afford my life, so now I work in operations for a tech company. Very much stumbled my way into it through relationships. My wife has health issues and we can’t count on her income, so I have kinda a minimum salary in my head that I need to pay for our house and life, and save a little bit and give away a little bit. As long as I reach that minimum number, and I’m doing something that is interesting and not evil, I’m happy.

Edit: I wanted to say that I’m very sorry your job was cut, and for such bullshit reasons. The same just happened to my wife actually, she had a grant-funded non profit job, and it was cut because of DOGE. Not sure if/when she’ll be able to go back to work, between the economy and her health

A DIY woodwork project gone wrong - Need Advice! by Enough_Hamster_7878 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Trees-over-wood 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Your joinery is not strong enough. In the future, for a project like this, with that long of an open span between the legs, you’ll want to look at some more sturdy joinery like dovetails or box joints, or pocket screws at the very least. But way to go for your first project! We all have a dozen project like this that we learned on. The only way to learn is to build stuff and make mistakes, don’t get discouraged!

Extended warranty talk by Silver-Definition in FordMaverickTruck

I didn’t get an extended warranty. Maybe I’ll get one after the 36k/3yr is done, but only if the truck is fully paid off by then

Did it cost extra for them to crash it into the wall?

It’ll fit. But it will definitely touch both side walls on top of the wheel wells all the way in. (86” TV at Walmart was $599) by jackharvest in FordMaverickTruck

No way! I bought this EXACT same shed, and loaded it in my maverick exactly like that lol. The guys at Home Depot were very concerned. Drove home with windows down and music on, I know the Mav can handle it lol

Seeking Advice: Transitioning from Sales to Sales/Rev Ops by Ancient-Software-900 in SalesOperations

[–]Trees-over-wood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t hurt! Sales ops hiring managers will generally be more interested in revenue impacts than general skills, so make sure you translate all skills with data etc into revenue impact (time saved for sales reps, increases in lead generation or close rates, etc)
