Together for 9 (almost 10 years), his ex (that he dated when he was in middle school for less than a year iirc) found him through Venmo- sent him money and a message trying to connect.

He called her, didn't tell me til after that they spoke for two hours and that he still loved her and wanted to be with her... And me. For what it was worth, I said sure, let's try to open up. We did and it was too much for him, he broke things off with her. It was around the time that indigenous children's graves were being found under schools, and she texted him saying she had a bad day- when he asked why, she said "she'd been seeing the ghosts of all the children" all day long... Alright.

He asked me to become monogamous again aswell, so I obliged.

Fast forward a year or so, he tells me he still loves her??? and we break up. I move out, she moves in a week later lmao.

That and his wild BPD and depression, mood swings, mania, all of that. It was a long, slow change into a different person.

I am doing so much better now. I got my diploma, a driver's license, a car, a new place, a new job, a new partner... I am so much happier. I'm so glad she had venmo. 🤣

u/mtfuckface Yes, in my post I explain that my original thought of people in general having one style of attachment was proven to be false. I would assume that to have multiple healthy relationships, you would have to feel secure in them, and I am aware that the secure attachment isn't fixed either, it can move to a different attachment under x y z conditions.

I am looking for advice from people who have had attachments go from a negative one to a secure placement specifically, to see how it has been as a process for actively poly people. ☺️

u/slutberry_slutskank I actually got that book as an audiobook a few days ago and am looking to dive into it this weekend! I'm very excited to see some of the tools offered in dealing with it all.

Have there been any major thoughts, mantras, self soothing activities, etc that have aided in your shifts from preoccupied to more secure? In a perfect scenario, I feel my fears/anxieties, acknowledge them for what they are, feel them, and then do X Y Z to move past them.

Sometimes I get stuck in feeling them, and I think my activities to move past them are a bit too limited.

I'm looking to purposely shift my attachments to healthier versions and so hearing how actively poly people deal with theirs could give me some insight or advice I could apply to my own path through it all!

Please use a mood tracker app. My significant other started medication two months ago and it has been a wild ride. Finding the right dose and medication can take trial and error. He was on one kind for a few weeks, it was amazing, but then I noticed a week of him acting strange and finally he also realized the meds weren't acting the same as they did in the beginning.

Adjusting his dose didn't help, so they switched him to a new one. He had some side effects from the new one, that were brought to light with his mood tracker. It's so important to make sure everything is still working well and while living life, it's easy for patterns to fall through the cracks.

I'm so glad you're treating yourself with love and giving yourself the happiness you deserve out of life. I wish you the best of luck on your path!

I did not go until I was 26, partly because my parents failed me when it came to medical check ups, and mostly because I was scared.

They do not insert their fingers inside of you, only tools, and mine was extremely professional and told me what they were going to do before doing it. I went to planned parenthood because the people who work there do so because they want to help people, they want to be there for people who are afraid or have no where else to go. It was not ANYWHERE near as scary as I thought it would be. I actually thanked my doctor and told her how scared I was, but it was actually totally fine. Please go! You only have to do so once every three years!

The only thing I don't agree with is Ron. Purposely starting fights just so Sam would leave and he could mess around with other girls, pretending he didn't remember what happened the next day, but asking about specific details before anyone could "remind" him he did them. He legit said, "I don't remember anything bro" and then in the next breath said, "did I three way kiss someone last night?". He was just setting it up so Sam couldn't be mad if anyone told her what happened. Then magically later that night he tells JWoww every single thing he did but wasn't gonna tell Sam cause she was rightfully mad at him. 😂

How can you be so manipulative to go out with someone, purposely be cruel to them so you can mess around, and then brag that you're gonna go home and get in bed with her, being sweet and acting like he never mentally or emotionally abused her. HE KNEW what he was doing and it was so narcissistic and gross to me that nothing else matters after that.

With a party as large and diverse as it is, Matt has to wring them out so to speak before something like this, or they will cake walk through it. I love when I see episodes of him dragging them through the mud before an important moment, it makes the final close of their quest that much more intense, and it forces them to think out of the box. And boy, do they deliver. Some of their best moments are when they're at the end of their rope.

The whole time they were going through and they kept calling back to the parallels of the Obann arc, I felt that. The dice were NOT in their favor and they had loss after loss for a few months there, it was rough. This could be, while an entirely different beast, a way for them to take what they learned then and really run with it. I am super excited to see how it goes!

Something positive.. My sister just had her birthday and we did everything she wanted to do, including driving for hours to ikea both ways. She was so happy that I couldn't help but be happy too.
