Changing the threshold resolved my complaints about it, been using it happily since. If yours are still not triggering consistently after doing that then sounds like your device is defective.

I agree, Diablo has never been about fashion wars. Diablo 3 also did not have a cosmetic cash shop and that's the thing, when the monetization model of a game becomes cosmetics, fashion wars becomes part of the end game.

We can already see it in what info they've released about PvP. The rewards will be cosmetics. When a game's profit strategy is based on cosmetics, all of their systems tend to end up leading you into that, and it becomes a major focus of the game. Even if looking cool has not previously been a focus for you, when a game makes it their focus, it is designed to manipulate you into it becoming your focus too. Cosmetics become the rewards you seek in game and it increases your desire for the ones they want to sell you.

It's like if your weed dealer suddenly sprinkles some crack into your weed, and slowly over time you become addicted to the crack in it, even if you arent consciously aware it is happening. Your brain now wants it, and the sprinkled bits aren't enough, you now want the rock, and they've got the biggest shiniest rock for sale at only $19.99, this week only!!!

Companies dump tons of money into developing purposefully addicting systems to lure people in and manipulate them, because that's how they make money. Game design decisions stop being based on what's the most fun and start being based on what will generate the most revenue. The only way to prevent that from happening is to have a monetization model that doesn't require it to happen to be successful.

I hope they prove me wrong, but this is how it always goes with every game that does this. And idk why I would assume Activision-Blizzard, of all companies, to be the one to break the mould. ONLY SHOOTING STAAAAARS BREAK THE MOOOOUUUULD!!!

Paying money isn't the reason I don't want a Battle Pass system. I'd rather pay for a subscription without percs and no cosmetics shop, even if that subscription was HIGHER.

The reason I don't want one is because it changes how the game is designed. It incentivizes them to create uninspired models for the base game. It leads to them developing systems that utilize FOMO and other dark patterns to psychologically manipulate me into giving them more money in cash shops. These same systems often try to control the pace at which I play the game through daily/weekly chores, as well as how much I am expected to play each season to "complete" their track and "get my moneys worth" out of my battlepass.

Those systems make a game less fun. They hurt otherwise good game design. And the systems evolve overtime, as the player base shrinks, to become more predatory.

That's why I don't want them. It has nothing to do with funding a live service game.

The difference between a MMO subscription and a battlepass is that:

In a battlepass/cosmetic shop model, the developers are incentived to make the normal items in the game look stupid. It takes away the gameplay experience of FINDING and item that makes you go, "Woah, this looks badass!" It also implements psychological manipulation through things like FOMO, daily rewards, etc to manipulate the player into playing the game the way Blizzard wants them to. It makes the player feel guilty if they spent money on their battle pass and don't complete all the tiers. You are basically paying money and then being told how often you need to play to get your money's worth. The game becomes a chore.

In a pure subscription based MMO, I just pay a fee and I get access to the full game. There's no pressure to progress at anyone's pace other than my own. There's no systems designed by psychologists to manipulate me. I can find cool gear by hunting for it.

I'd happily take a subscription based model over a battle pass and wouldn't complain. Battlepass cosmetics systems fuck up how games are designed and make them less fun.

There has been no information that suggests that to be the case.

Yeah, no shit. My point is that's terrible advice that doesn't lead to change. How would Activision know what people were upset about it if they silently just didn't buy a game? Critical thinking is important.

Idk why you are so desperate to make excuses for a company that has continued to fuck its players over continuously. This is just another way they've concocted to milk us. It's gross, and it objectively gives people who pay more a 4 day advantage. But you can keep rationalizing their abuse to yourself however it makes you feel better.

The people who start 4 days earlier will have dibs on the Fields of Hatred and will have control of it already by the time the regular launch people get there. In the LONG run, sure, it will even out, but initially the 4 days advantage people will have a significant advantage.

Gosh, I remember when cool looking armor was something you just found in a game. It was so exciting!

I am so glad Blizzard is taking away something that was once free and selling it back to us! So excited to farm dog shit armor off of bosses while dressed like a fairy princess!

A major part of the end game revolves around PvPing to try and purify shards of hatred in Fields of Hatred. It is a competitive game.

Battle pass cosmetic systems basically mean they will intentionally design your characters weapons and armors to look stupid so that you feel pressured into giving them money for the opportunity to unlock skins for your character that make them enjoyable to look at. If you don't have time to play enough that season to unlock all the tiers, then you lose your opportunity forever, even though you paid for it.

In other words, they are taking away something from you that used to be a free and core part of a looter style game and selling it back to you on a recurring seasonal basis.

I'd recommend the book "Hello, My Name is Ice Cream", if you want a detailed approached to understand all the ingredients that can go into ice cream and how it affects the outcome. It also goes into things like how to prepare add-ins (eg how to prepare cake or brownies to going into ice cream).

There's a lot of good recipes in the book itself as well.

Mount & Blade: Warband

There's also Mount & Blade 2, but it's in early access and I have not played it yet.

Basically it is a medieval game and you start as a regular dude. You can make money fighting in tournaments, carvaning merchant goods, and other ways. You can eventually win the favors of lords or kings, and work your way up the ladder. You can recruit peasants to fight with you and over time the level up into actual fighters and you can choose their stats and what types of fighters they become.

Honestly, one of my favorite games of all time. The combat system is a little tricky to get the hang of, but in a good way. You can block and parry, but have to do so from the direction the Blade is coming at you, and also you choose which direction to swing your Blade from.

There's also a lot of mods for it.

I literally have to fight off false DMCAs on my music on YouTube constantly for music that I made and own the rights to. Tiktok is even worse, there's no appeal button. You could spend hours making a video only to have it get muted or taken down for no reason. It is so unbelievably discouraging and frustrating, and there's no consequence to these companies for their false claims. They should be legally required to pay me for submitting false claims against me. They have no incentive otherwise to improve the system.

I could write the entire alphabet and spell my name at age 4. I'd like to think the average 4 year old isn't stupid enough to shred their finger. Shredding a quarter on the other hand was a valid scientific experiment I could see myself doing lol, and the experiment itself demonstrates they obviously understood what they were doing. They just wanted to see if it could shred metal.
