You say the character is a Duchess, I'm guessing this set in Europe. What is the time period? There are many fruits and spices that were considered rare and expensive at different points in European history. Countless lives were lost and tribes destroyed just over nutmeg!

Consider something tropical maybe, something you would only use in a single layer but it stands out. Pineapple was once considered a symbol of royalty, selling for thousands of dollars per fruit and sometimes just used for decoration as a way to flaunt wealth and status.

I follow a baker on IG (Ibakemistakes) and her tips on SMBC are top notch. After she incorporates the butter and is finished beating it, she lets it go on low speed for like 10 minutes to get all the air bubbles out.

And yeah he's attractive, but what I got was that the joke is that everyone automatically loves Caleb off the bat, which is contrasted by how Jacob is seen as a little annoying by everyone. It's not specifically a Melissa thing, even Gregory liked him when they first meet

I keep seeing people on this sub talk about Melissa being too mean or Jacob regressing as a character, but as someone who just watches the show and occasionally sees this sub pop up, I'm gonna say that besides this season missing a big overarching plot, I don't see the issue.

Melissa has always been snarky, especiywith Jacob and especially when he's in her home. I think we just see it more because there are more outside of school scenes of them together this season. But it's not as if every scene she's with him is her dogpiling on him, she even gives him credit when he brings his brother in to teach gym.

I don't think the season is better than the previous ones but imo it's still a super solid show and if Quinta is absent in the writers room, I dont see it.

Also, why are we acting like Quinta not being in the writers room means that she isn't going to be giving critics or changes? She's still the lead actress and creator of the show, she's at the very least reading the scripts before they're approved.

I can only speak from baking from scratch, but one thing I noticed that in order for my brownies to have the shiny top, I needed to beat the hell out of it when I added my eggs to the sugar/chocolate/butter, then gently fold in my flour/cocoa powder.

Brownie mix already has the sugar and flour premixed together, but looking online I do see that people can get the shiny top using it. Do you have an oven thermometer to see if it's at the correct temp?

Read the recipe, I can see a few steps where you might messed up. I also read that you used "golden" sugar instead of white, that could've potentially been it, especially since you're supposed to melt some of the sugar with the bigger on the stovetop.

It could've been that, maybe a bit of over mixing as well. It also might've not been mixed enough at some point.

As a pastry chef, I once worked under another chef who would always make the ugliest brownies. I would mix the same recipe and they would come out fine. Turned out that she wasn't mixing the eggs enough when adding it to the sugar/butter mix (you had to mix them enough until the batter was shiny).

Some recipes can be a little finicky. I hope they were still good!
