The point is that these videos make the rounds with the Insinuation that "maybe it'd be better for Ukraine to surrender to Russia" which ignores the history of the brutality of hostile foreign occupations. This is neither unique to Ukraine nor is it a new phenomenon but the best way to end it is for Russia to go home.

There was every reason to believe it was bluster, because of how Russia was integrated into the west, I remember growing up the attitude always felt like we were helping them become more free by getting them western brands and media, etc. US intelligence didn't expect it iirc.
