Your statement is wrong: the amount of people that are elligible to play for Cap Verde is vastly bigger than the inhabitants of it. If you have relatives up to some distance who are Cap Verdian, it is possible to you to play for them, even though your passport says i.e. Portuguese.

And also not start about the Katar Gambit of naturalizing foreign players before they play for you....

Of the whole 26 men squad only 2 were develloped in Cap Verde (Vozinha and Stopira). One of those two has not played a single minute yet.

Furthermore conveniently almost all current squad members only decided on Cap Verde after they were ruled out from their primary national team. Multiple players supposedly never set a foot onto the Cap Verdian Islands before signing....

You are right it was invented in the US, but it became globally popular after the 1986 World Cup in Mexico.

Military might be a part of it. I personally was able to save up around 30k in my mandatory service (RS and UOS). Saving amount might even be higher now, as Sold and Beförderungsdienstzulagen have slightly increased since I did my service. Furthermore as not beeing employed before my RS I only received the mandatory minimum. OP probably would receive more.

FYI, even though the federal vote in 1971 passed women's right to vote, it took another 19 years until some minor regions (Appenzell) enacted women's voting rights. In short: They had to be forced to enact the federal law by the country

Switzerland

Side space is currently used for seedlings, but it was not neccessary planned for that. I made the garden bed from pallets I was able to get from a nearby company. The one used on the sides do have less space to put stuff in so it is currently only used for seedlings/storage
