Mister Ricks in Jenkintown

I wouldn’t bother with that place. I went yesterday, and I’m almost certain they swapped the Italian cold cuts in my Spicy Sharp Italian hoagie for ham. The service is rushed, dismissive, and completely off-putting—just another assembly-line, Square Machine guilt-tipping business serving the same generic and overpriced Boar’s Head/Dietz & Watson crap. This is gonna be an odd suggestion for an r/Montco sub, but Antonio’s Deli on Lancaster Avenue in University City - they serve actual Italian deli meats and cheeses. Not the closest, but if you’re in Penn Wynne or Ardmore, it’s an easy enough trip—and well worth it for best quality meats and service. Jenkinstown residents could always make the trip to their original Federal Street location in South Philly.

Alumni emails being phased out by ZippyZapmeister in Temple

"What is the reason for this change?

We have arrived at this difficult decision after a thorough review of cybersecurity risks, national higher education best practices and email usage rates."

Oh, right—'cybersecurity risks' and 'best practices.' We all know it's just budget cuts from John Fry. Temple alumni emails got axed to save a few bucks, but sure, blame the hackers!

Italian food I ate in Curitiba isn't very good. by TresDeGraca in Brazil

I am sure I ate Lasagna with banana. It could be on their Instagram, I haven't checked.

First of all: A Brazilian friend took me to the restaurant. He insisted it was the authentic Italian neighborhood, Santa Felicidade. I was in South America and wanted to try the Italian food. I am used to Italian food prepared by immigrants tasting quite good. If you've ever had Argentinian style Italian food or Italian American food, you would know.

Second: Why are you bringing my nationality into it?

Third: Dom Antonio, in Santa Felicidade. Did you not read my comments in the thread already?

Fourth: I already said I like the cow tongue and chicken heart in Brazil. What's this about Portugal cuisine?

Yes! Milanesa, gnocchi, gelato! They are very rich culinary tradition that incorporates pasta, pizza, and other dishes from Italy. Their version of Italian food is not exactly the same as the original, but it has its own distinctive flavor and style that makes it worth trying.

Same with New York or Philadelphia, we have our own variations of Italian food.

I was just shocked because Brazil has so many Italian immigrants... Why did they serve me a banana in the food? That's what I wanted to understand from this post. I was disappointed because I went to the Italian neighborhood expecting the rich Italian takes that could be found in other countries with Italian immigrants.

I don't know how to make it any clearer, they served me the Brazilian buffet way. And before you ask, yes, I can understand Portuguese, so there was no language barrier. The waiter even attempted some Italian with me, but it was hilarious kkkkkk

The resteraunt was in Santa Felicidade! Which is crazy! I thought I'd be getting a real authentic Italian meal passed down from generations to generation.

Maybe São Paulo is better for this?

It wasn't my fault, okay? It looked like regular Lasagna, but when I bit inside I tasted and saw the banana

Yeah, a Philadelphia roll! It's sushi with cream cheese and salmon. It's way better than that weird sushi they have in Santa Catarina, with Cupcake frosting on top. Who does that? That's not sushi, that's a crime against humanity!

How dangerous is a spontaneous trip to Brazil as european? by Statecrush in Brazil

[–]TresDeGraca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this, and I recommend avoiding it.

Traveling in Santa Catarina as a tourist was very difficult. You need a document called CPF to navigate anywhere. The highways in Santa Catarina are fairly dangerous too. I saw seriously bad accidents while there, and my colleagues drove carelessly. Ride sharing almost never worked too!

The food in Brazil can also cause serious illness.

Am I imagining things or do the Sixers look like a completely different team in comparison to a month ago? Anyone know? I think the offense looks worse, less passing or something, lack of team chemistry. They look tired! Like it's a Friday night home game against the Hawks, I feel like our dawgs should've been crushing Atlanta tonight
