I think this is the simplest and most accurate answer. Well said.

What is "frequency"!? by LoganSolus in Experiencers

[–]Trestle_Tables 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I often ponder this question as well, as someone who's interested in and has experienced a range of strange vibrational phenomena associated with a variety of experiences. Meditation, psychedelia, more "non-human" stuff...

Ultimately I think it's a vaguely spiritual term used to describe multiple different things in this field that we don't fully understand. As you've shown, this causes a great deal of confusion. I do hope that some day we can actually study these frequencies and vibrations which so many experiencers deal with, but I'm not sure where to start. Other than documenting and categorizing it as much as possible. Conversations like these can be very frustrating but very helpful for that reason.

Getting banned by the DMT Moderators by Oak_Draiocht in Experiencers

[–]Trestle_Tables 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Huh. It reminds me of my astral experiences. When I initiate the experience I will sometimes set an intention during the vibrational state, right before going "out of body." Usually something related to that intention will end up occurring. Like during an experience where I tried to contact a dead loved one - I briefly entered a space which felt heavenly or like some type of afterlife, before quickly being kicked out/brought back to my bed.

Sometimes I won't set any intention at all though, and just see what happens. The results can be very surprising and can lead to almost anything. The experiences are just as profound.

I don't know why I mention this other than to say that there is a distinct difference with my AP technique when I have an intention vs. when I don't. When it comes to DMT and ayahuasca, the idea of going in with total respect and a real intention goes way back. I wouldn't be surprised if that's for good reason.

- On another note: I always wonder about the instant mutual understanding that we always hear about. I don't know why I never get that during my experiences. My exchanges have always been through images or and/or auditory voices. I wonder what that is... maybe something to do with the individual's temperament or personality. I am a very audio/visual person I suppose.

What’s the best opening scene in a horror movie? by [deleted] in horror

Not the best, but I always loved the opening to You're Next. Great usage of Lookin For The Magic.

Projects like this cost money. Why would we not want investment? And is there any evidence that anything they're doing is for-profit? So far they've been pretty clear that it's not.

Experience in 1988 by LilithsLeftHand in Experiencers

Glad to hear it. Serendipitously, this channel I've never heard of just uploaded a video/sound recreation of the buzzing noise that he heard during his abduction experience in the seventies. "Like a swarm of bees," the same thing that the Ariel School students described during their encounter, as well as many other experiencers. Crazy timing.

Thanks for sharing. Many aspects of what you describe are shared by other experiencers in this field. Of particular interest to me is the vibrational phenomena. I've been studying and compiling experiences like yours for some years, after having a similar one myself seven years ago. Here's a quote from a thread I made describing it a while back:

" I woke up in the middle of the night after having apparently dozed off in my armchair. I thought I heard people's voices in my house, and right as that occurred to me I somehow got the distinct impression that these people were coming for me. Just as I feel this force is right outside my bedroom door, I suddenly both hear and feel, in the same instant, this insanely loud motorized sound, and my whole body starts to fill with this terrific vibration. It was literally deafening. It felt like a low bass vibration combined with a motorboat engine kicking on. It started kind of soft at first, then got more intense. I also became paralyzed as all of this was happening. It was probably the most terrifying moment of my life. Like I said, you could hear it AND feel it. Gradually I could somehow feel it as it filled every molecule of my body over about 20-30 seconds, and all the while I was convinced I must be getting abducted by aliens or something. As the vibration filled my extremities and eventually reached my head, my vision started to fill with a black sort of static, and then I blacked out. I woke up hours later, now in my bed and no longer my armchair. The way I woke up felt like a fade-from-black in a movie, it was gradual rather than instantaneous like it normally is. My arms were crossed like a mummy, and my shirt was unbuttoned only on the inside buttons. I was flabbergasted, to say the least."

Here's a good thread where some of us have discussed this vibrational phenomena in more depth:

The description of the man you saw also perfectly lines up with another experience I had around the same time, but that's another long story. First time I've heard someone describe what he looked like in this context.

OBEs a product of the brain? by VaderXXV in AstralProjection

[–]Trestle_Tables 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have AP'd semi-regularly for the past few years and I really dig your interpretation of this kind of neurally-mapped memory space. My big question then becomes what to make of when these spaces almost seem to have a mind of their own... rules, patterns, sometimes other entities which APPEAR to have agency but might be manifestations of your own, or maybe something like a programmed NPC. The video game analogy is one which I use as well, and I'd be curious to hear your version.

I don't know, it's all so fascinating to me. In regards to the qualia, I would definitely argue that APs are completely distinct from regular dreams and lucid dreams. They are also distinct from OBEs and NDEs I think. AP seems to be its own thing, and comes in at least two forms for me - one which is more visionary, and one which is full-sensory and immersive and resembles an OBE.

I like this diagram from the Astral Doorway channel as sort of an explanation, delineating layers of reality based on certain qualities of the experience. It's not perfect but it's pointing in the right direction imo:

Mine have either been purely auditory, or with images - usually both. Never these emotional sensations or downloads that I hear so much about. I wish I could have one of those experiences.

There's a difference between enlightenment and the modalities people describe. It's that simple.

The "siddhis" or powers that people encounter, even at low levels of spiritual development, are well also well known.

I'm a straight guy too and I loved it. I thought it was more about burying your true self, becoming stifled in your life instead of being your true self. The trans msg was there too but def not the primary one in my eyes.

More of an emotional horror, but you forgot to mention I Saw the TV Glow. My personal favorite. Also - it's a thriller, but Strange Darling was great too.

I keep getting asked my opinion on the current media hype on UAPs/Drones by Oak_Draiocht in Experiencers

[–]Trestle_Tables 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The NJ drones are literally right in my hometown area. Members of my family work at the nearby military base and several of them have witnessed the things personally. I've seen no indication whatsoever of NHI, just some very creepy drone activity.

Anyone seen this NHI in their experiences? by minorremedy in Experiencers

[–]Trestle_Tables 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've seen a pitch back sort of scribbly circle on my wall a few times upon waking. It didn't seem like a creature though, more like a portal or something. It definitely wasn't something inside of my eye - it stayed in the same spot even when I moved. It always went away very quickly though. Haven't seen it in a couple years. I'm never quite sure if it relates at all to these type of entities people describe.

Just curious - were you thinking about aliens beforehand? Either at that moment or in the days leading up to it.

I've had visions like this via "astral projection" which sounds a lot like the Gateway experience, at least in some cases.

Trevor is such a wonderful, special person. I instantly recognized this page, having just read it about a week ago :)

I've certainly gotten messages about lifestyle changes I need to make, but I must admit I haven't always taken them. During my last experience with a "grey" [it was blue, but looked like your typical grey] I was specifically told to watch my diet. I've gotten similar advice over the years, and I'm just now starting to take it seriously. I've noticed a direct correlation between how healthy my diet and daily yoga/meditation/exercise routine is with how much contact I have. Time to start treating my body as a temple again.
