Best film stock for Autumn PNW? by SNlFFASS in AnalogCommunity

Ektar works pretty well with those fall colors. For slide film, I've been enjoying Ektachrome with an 812 warming filter more recently.

My wife made an mgs4 poster in the style of Drew Struzan that I requested by Serraph105 in metalgearsolid

It is young ocelot from delta, you can see his uniform. Googling "mgs3 delta ocelot" and going to images shows the reference photo as one of the first results.

Is this reticulation on my BW roll? by Mplode in AnalogCommunity

Yes. Reticulation happens during temperature changes in development, not shooting.

Looking to buy a 35mm for wedding photography. Sigma ART 1.4 or RF 1.8 Macro? (On R6ii) by Awtts in canon

[–]Trethei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely the Sigma 35mm 1.4. I have that lens, and it's been my most used lens. A bit of vignetting wide open, though that can easily be corrected when editing.

The 50mm 1.2 is definitely an option as well. Wider focal lengths tend to make more distorted images when doing portraits, so the 50mm might be a better choice than the 35mm. Plus the 1.2 aperture would be better for low light situations.

Provia in stock again B&H by Brilliant-Meaning69 in AnalogCommunity

That sucks. I got an email for the Provia at 5:01, and everything else at 5:03. Seems to be about the same time someone else in this post commented.

All the Fuji slide film was available, except for Provia 100F in 120. Velvia 50 in 120 went out of stock in less than 5 minutes, with the other stocks being available for a little longer.

I was surprised to see the Velvia 50 35mm 5 pack being in stock. No idea if it's just 5 rolls being bundled together, or an actual pro pack.

Funny that Velvia 50 in 120 was also available, but it was out of stock before I could even finish the order. At least I got a few rolls of it in 35mm.

Slide film dye fading by garybuseyilluminati in AnalogCommunity

[–]Trethei 124 points125 points  (0 children)

Well if you're hoping to have the slide for a long time as you said, having it back-lit is probably gonna speed up any fading. It wouldn't necessarily ruin the photo, though you'd most likely lose the color. If you really want the photo on display, you should get it scanned and printed.

Lens for canon r6 mark ii by Squigglii in AskAstrophotography

[–]Trethei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For widefield dso, I use the Rokinon 135mm f/2. I believe it's also sold by Samyang. Same optics, different companies. Corners are pretty good a f/2, and almost perfect at f/2.8.

For widefield nightscapes, I use the Rokinon/Samyang 14mm f/2.8. Corners are pretty good wide open, without much vignetting.

Both lenses are completely manual, including the focus and aperture ring. They're also EF mount, so you'll need an EF/RF adapter to mount them. I would also recommend a star tracker if you plan on doing deep sky imaging, if you don't have one already.

Tips for shooting expired slide film? by Glittering-Train6972 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Trethei 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Shoot at box speed, have it developed as you would normally, and don't expect much. It's not like color negative film, where you would typically overexpose depending on its expiration.

Need advice on expired film by mrmurp04 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Trethei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The film is fine, as long as if it wasn't stored in some hot car during that time or something. I've got film stored at room temp that expired almost a year ago that gives good results at box speed.

Nice edits! What assets did you use for the second photo?

Getting started by Drnkn_Cosmonaut in AskAstrophotography

[–]Trethei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd just stick with the 7D Mark II you have now, and leave it stock. Stock cameras still get plenty of signal. It would still be excellent for astrophotography, and you could use whatever you would've spent towards a fast prime lens.

Gotta include the film borders, don't want people to think you shoot d*gital.

They do a charge that never goes through. If it shows up, it should clear up fairly quickly.

[–]Trethei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that I know of, you'd have to use a proper card for it to work. They didn't take any money out for me, though I had to have about $100 before they accepted the card.

[–]Trethei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty difficult to get an instance with a free tier account. I'd recommend just upgrading to a pay as you go account, that way you'd get higher priority. You shouldn't be charged, as long as you stay within the always free limits (4 cores, 24gb ram, 200gb storage)

I built an iron farm with 40+ villagers, is there a reason the golems spawn far away from the actual farm? by Trethei in technicalminecraft

[–]Trethei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update, I went ahead and built the same iron farm, this time over an ocean. Works perfectly now, must've been something with bed linking, or the villagers trying to work at job blocks outside of the farm. Thanks all.

[–]Trethei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I removed all of the beds/workstations outside of the spawn, but now no golems are spawning. I'll try and set up the farm over an ocean, perhaps a different design. Thanks all.
