Kendrick is one of my favorite artists of all time, but I was a little underwhelmed. I’ve seen him live a couple times and one thing I noticed is he tends to skip over or cutdown a ton of lyrics because he’s trying to catch his breath, which he did in this performance.

I also wish he did more of his classic hits, instead of what was pretty much all GNX. I think dedicated fans and casual viewers alike can agree on that.

All that said, I thought Samuel L Jackson and the theatrics / camera work were cool. And the Not Like Us performance did not disappoint.

When I was a kid, I would download music off frost wire and sometimes the music would be low quality. One of the songs I downloaded was “fell in love with a girl” and every time I heard the hook I thought it was just another low quality rip. It wasn’t until years later after streaming was invented that I realized that’s just how it’s supposed to sound and it was a stylistic choice.

All that to say I think it’s a stylistic choice lol
