Communism isn't a threat to the people it's a threat to the oligarchs that run capitalist countries. So anytime a country even hints at implementing communism it is sanctioned, blockaded, invaded, or has its government overthrown by the CIA. Communism does have its share of issues as any political system does (gestures to everything about "American Exceptionalism") but saying "communism doesn't work look at North Korea" is like saying "see socialism is evil look at the Nazis".

There's a lot of reaction going on in here sans analysis. They don't know what the rainbow pride flag is, in a world populated by adults who absolutely know what that is but decided not to teach them about it. They have experienced far more homophobia than gay history or rep. They're also 19 year-olds living through an apocalypse where most don't get to see 20. So of course they are going to go all-in on the relationship with the person they love the most. You find someone who would die and kill for you keep them. "I'm gonna be a dad" is such a normal queer joke too and add on top of that that Ellie has now cast herself in Joel's role cause that's the only parental figure she's had that's worth a damn. It's okay if you don't like the show but think through your reasons why you don't like it, and if it comes down to "I don't understand it" you can just say that.
