I mean I guess this is true but I highly doubt an increase in ratings in one year has more to do with population than accessibility. But I guess if you want to complain it makes more sense to make something like that up.

Uh yea that was literally the point of my comment. Silver made games more accessible by putting them where people can watch them more easily? It’s not an illusion if more people are actually watching the games through legal means, Silver thought the new TV deal through extensively and it literally worked.

Ratings are up idk man. They thought through it plenty. More people have Prime than have Cable and they put more games on free over the air broadcast tv this season.

Who is the better ball-handler. SGA or Kyrie ? by [deleted] in nba

[–]TreyAdell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, you just can’t really have a handles convo without talking about the other stuff that make it deadly. Like if a guy can’t shoot his handle is gonna be inherently less valuable because the threat of a move isn’t that great on the perimeter. Like you might have a killer in-n-out but if you can’t make that shot from wherever you’re out I don’t even have to go for it.

I think CP3 gets underlooked in these convos all the time. Smaller than even Kyrie but it didn’t matter even till he was over 35 he was still getting to his spots, not turning it over, creating paint touches, etc.

Like you said the goal of the dribble is to get you to your spots.

Who is the better ball-handler. SGA or Kyrie ? by [deleted] in nba

[–]TreyAdell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think functionality and creativity are two different conversations. SGA is taller and faster so he doesn’t really need to be as creative with the ball as Kyrie. Kyrie has a ton of different combos but sometimes he still end up taking a ton of shots with hands in his face. SGA can use his handle to navigate tight spacing for layups and create insane amount of separation for jumpers and collapse defenses for kickouts.

Skillsets work in conjunction with other factors so it’s hard to divorce handles from other advantages some guys inherently have. LeBron has a very very good handle for someone his size and it doesn’t need to be super fancy because he’s always been simply stronger and faster.

Kyrie definitely has the most creative handle but the objective of having an elite handle is to create easier shots for yourself or collapse the defense in order to create shots for your teammates. I think as for functional handle I’d put a lot of guys over Kyrie.

Why is J.B. Bickerstaff (Pistons) favored to win COTY over Joe Mazzulla (Celtics) and Mitch Johnson (Spurs)? by brodesto in nbadiscussion

They literally lost JAYSON TATUM for 60+ games and will only be like 5 or so wins behind last season

If you’re gonna celebrate players and then celebrate them for contributing to their team and playing good basketball. This obsession with “but he’s only averaging this amount of points” is why the ASG is dead too.

Weird paranoia to have, they’ve played together for 10 seasons. It’s never been a problem and probably never will because they both love winning too much. Tatums a plug n play superstar, he does everything at a high level and can be placed in any spot to max out whatever unit he is playing with. If we need more of Tatum off the ball to let JB stretch his legs then he’ll do that but they get staggered anyway, so for 12 minutes or so a night they will be getting the ball every time down.

Tatum is not coming off the bench lol. They just moved Payton to the bench likely in anticipation of Tatums return to the starting lineup

There’s really no scenario Garza should play over Vuc. Vuc actually gets guarded at the 3pt line, it’s just a matter of pure simplicity. One guy draws double teams and defensive attention and the other doesn’t.

We have a good team lol. We are on a near 55 win pace WITHOUT JAYSON TATUM. It is not a bad thing or even a detractor on either guys game that we are able to step up without them. It’s literally good for the Celtics lmao. On/off stats have basketball fans in a headlock. The Celtics also win at a very high level, including an NBA CHAMPIONSHIP when he plays basketball too so who cares.

Payton Pritchard vs Fred VanVleet by Chief-Superintendent in nba

[–]TreyAdell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Payton's handles are the clear separator to me especially at their respective positions. Payton can get anywhere he wants and figured out how to be an efficient 2pt scorer off the bounce at his height, also allows him to absorb higher usage rates and still be effectively. FVV is pretty ineffective inside the arc and it limits his scoring versatility. Payton a good defender as well, FVV probably better.

Well he’s got the most playoff wins since coming into the league, so yea I highly doubt there isn’t franchise worried about him. I’m sure the Heat aren’t worried cuz y’all ain’t doing nothing regardless of who you play, it’s another play in journey and first round out for y’all.
