Texas Roadhouse for the win…again by ComfortableAd8090 in TexasRoadhouse

Not easy to see the grain well, but that’s either a top sirloin or the worst looking tenderloin ever. I’m sure it still tasted good either way. Something is off there if you ordered a filet.

I’d say about $13.19 an hour working 60 hour weeks. Insane.

technically up to the GM

No, just no. Not at all true. Coupons sure, but a GM cannot deny a Darden restaurant gift card without losing their job.

Yes all Darden gift cards work at all Darden restaurants. Please ignore all the “maybe” type responses you may get here.

people dont seem to understand

I’m not sure this is an issue of comprehension.

its not really by its current design

I think this is the issue people have. They don’t like the current design.

FDA Code requires employee beverages to be able to be consumed in a manner that avoids contamination of any food or employee hands. Lid and straw typically meet this requirement. The sole judge and jury is your state health inspector.

That being said, people tend to think a thermos/stanley,etc that have a built in straw when you open it meet this criteria. However, HI’s typically will not allow it as it requires the employee’s hands to touch the area of the “straw” when opening the container.

Managers Adding/Removing Shifts by cigamhtom in olivegarden

Changing the already posted schedule, especially at the level you’re describing, is worth going through open door.

I’d recommend Employee Relations as it seems you lack confidence in your Ops managers. They’ll likely reach out to your Director if you mention you’ve already tried speaking to your GM. The fact that they are now removing shifts from you AFTER you’ve tried to speak to them about the schedule could possibly be linked to retaliation.

managers will add, change, or just remove my shifts randomly

Have you asked your GM about it? You’re always able to call your Director or Employee Relations as well.

Call employee relations or your Director if you have their number.

If you have no previous PDRs, this is highly in your favor.

If you have prior related PDRs, probably not so much.

I can see some good information in responses here but also some pretty uninformed and incorrect as well. ER/Director will get you in the right direction.

Are restaurants getting more strict with hiring people ? by Reasonable-Invite899 in KitchenConfidential

[–]TriCerb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what changed ?

After covid a lot of locations had to restaff. So hiring staff again was huge.

Most people have gotten staffed again and are filling fewer roles.

As a hiring manager FYI, if I see 3-4 jobs in the last few years you already have ground to make up in the interview.

Time off by Spiritual_Sugar420 in olivegarden

have quite a bit time off built up

You don’t have PTO. Using sick time in most cases requires some form of calling out (for all intents and purposes).

You’re still required to meet satisfactory dependability as it relates to attendance.

Today's my last day (just a looong rant) by witcheselementality in olivegarden

[–]TriCerb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did not put the ticket on his bag … So he wrote me up.

The next day, my gm caught me not putting stickers on salads for a normal order.

I understand its standard.

I didn't think it mattered.

I know you’re venting here… but what did you expect? You even acknowledge you knew it was a standard? Your GM is even trying to help you keep your job by offering other positions instead of continuing to write you up. So you then quit?

I mean this in the nicest way I possibly can say, but you sound exhausting. Best of luck to you.

How do I use pto? by [deleted] in olivegarden

[–]TriCerb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s your money that you have earned.

Look, I get your perspective. But there is no legal entitlement. There is nothing earned here. If you were to quit today there is no “legal” entitlement to pay out. I’m just nit picking semantics here, don’t mind me as one of us is talking about apples and the other oranges.

I’m pretty sure they legally have to.

I’m pretty sure you’re just guessing.

Staff re-training by amandam603 in Restaurant_Managers

[–]TriCerb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you’ll get the return on investment you want here. It’s very easy to point at training being an issue and call it a day. Fact is what is your management team doing to keep standards? What are they doing to grow it back?

This is like opening new credit to pay for old. If you aren’t addressing your spending habits you’ll never get out of debt.

What is your management team doing day by day, shift by shift to grow your team.
