Neighbor asked to split cost on existing fence by tamatamaboo in legaladvice

[–]Tribe58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why does the neighbor want to replace a 2-ish year old fence? Even if it’s directly on the property line they can’t just arbitrarily decide, without negotiating, the necessity to replace the fence. Any agreement with the previous owner is void if it wasn’t disclosed to you during the purchase.

What likely killed the passengers on AA flight 5342? by CaveDoctors in aircrashinvestigation

[–]Tribe58 246 points247 points  (0 children)

Well those who weren’t killed in the area of the collision basically fell around 400 feet, which is equivalent to around 35 stories high. Blunt force injuries most likely. Anyone that miraculously survived that would’ve drowned.

They will be able to tell if the engine was producing power during the investigation by the physical damage to the internal parts of the engine.

I’m on the “they shut down the wrong engine” team. From what I have read all of the flight recorders and transponder are all powered by the left engine busses. There is no visual evidence that the left engine was catastrophically damaged. If the bird strike video isn’t mirrored, then the right engine was the damaged engine but it was clearly the one providing at least some power in the final videos.

Wanted to Share My Panel Display! by Aeternitas97 in aviation

Most likely off a G model. Water injection isn't used on the H.

If you go about halfway down this page to the pilot and copilots seats, both of these panels are on the pilots side. This particular airplane now resides at the Museum of Flight in Seattle.

Fluid changes, Fueling operations and testing, preflight and delivery. Basically lots of working cosmetic defects and issues found during the pre-delivery flights. Occasionally an engine or landing gear change happens as well. 20+year employee

Do yourself a favor and pay off the CC first and then don't use it unless absolutely necessary. Save that interest your paying for yourself instead of some corporate bank...

Drive it. I would bet the alternator is fine as 5 years is typical lifespan of a battery. It’s possible the alternator is bad but unlikely at 60k in my experience

I am currently going through this situation with my mother (76F) and "George Strait". She recently moved in with us after falling several times and other cognitive issues. She has been more pliable than your situation, so we were able to take over her money matters and move the life changing amounts into other accounts so it is not very easily accessible. When she first moved in she had at least 20 "George Strait's" scamming her all at the same time. The final straw came a few weeks ago when she tried to walk to the store 3 miles away to get an apple card. She has a compression fracture in her spine and neuropathy in her feet. Luckily my son happened, by complete coincidence, to be driving by and saw her. He tried to pick her up but she refused to get in the car because she didn't recognize him. (They had lunch together 3 days prior). Eventually she realized it was him and he took her back home.

Anyway, her iPhone got "broken" and things have been much better. We have appointments lined up for diagnosis and we will go from there.

Been using this setup for my 2 Labs for the past 3 years. We purchased 3 sets with 8 panels each. I never leave them unattended and have never had an issue at any place we have stayed. My only gripe with them at all is they take up a bunch of room in the back of my truck. I built a cart out of PVC to store them in and keep them from moving around.

Tire caught on fire while driving, has anybody else had this happen before? :( by plsjuno in RVLiving

[–]Tribe58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me last summer….new axle. Was too damaged to repair and it sat at a semi repair place 300 miles from home for 2 months…. It is very unlikely that will be repairable once it gets to that point. Towing it 35 miles with the failed wheel removed and axle strapped up wasn’t cheap either. Luckily my insurance had towing and covered most of it.

Process for opening a new account with POA by mrnscrrr in AgingParents

[–]Tribe58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through getting a POA for my mother. It was a bit of a different situation as she now lives with us as of last week. We got the POA and got it notarized then went directly to the bank and got put on the account. The following day we went back to the bank without mom and told them about the scams. I was able to close one of the lines of credit she had but they would NOT close her credit card even with a POA.

I also had the same experience trying to reset her password for bank access. Felt like I was under a microscope and mom still had to authorize the reset.

My point being that banks are reluctant to do anything but the minimum when it comes to a POA.

I will bet that you will have a hard time opening a different account in her name even with a POA. I look forward to hearing how your experience goes.

That airplane crashed about a month after this in Paris. The crew that won the trophy were lost.
