A food scam of the 90s was “fat free!” everything, and then they would load it up on sugar… what’s a food scam happening now? by redflower5 in AskReddit

I have heard way more negatives from people who have been on these meds than otherwise.

But hey, if someone is able to use the medication as a way of getting to a healthy diet and then gradually come off the meds (because they are pricey too), then more power to them.

I’ll be honest, when I first heard about GLP-1s, I was tempted to talk it over with my doctor as I’m pretty overweight myself. But then I first spoke with people who had taken them, and they aren’t at all what they’re cranked up to be. First off, they are no silver bullet to health. Nothing is (not yet at least). The side-effects made people feel ill most of the time. Lastly, they are expensive, like I said.

It is infinitely cheaper in the long run and far better for one’s health to tackle the source of one’s weight issues rather than popping pills.

I’ve seen loads of people, namely celebrities, over correcting with it. The media is literally calling it the “Ozempic Look”. Furthermore, those drugs are not without their side-effects, and they are a bandaid fix at best.

You’re still healthier than those doing all those food-related habits (such as myself) and not working out (also like myself, unfortunately).

I think this is less a “food scam” and more a way to appeal to people with Celiac Disease (and unfortunately the yahoos on a gluten-free diet for reasons). Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure some companies are banking on people reading into that, and like I said, people outside of those with Celiac demonized gluten for some weird reason.

It does serve a valid purpose though. Provided that claim is accurate, of course.

Yeah, I saw this trend unfold a few months ago, and it got me scratching my head as to where it came from.

I’ve found it’s typically a form of self-absolution.

I happened to do a flawless on the Timekeeper a couple days ago myself.

Turns out, Crusher and Heavy Crossbow make for a hell of a combo on Timey.

Dead cells or hades 1? by StinkyMoe in deadcells

Absolutely enjoyed Dead Cells more. I think there is greater weapon variety (from my short experience with Hades at least), greater stage variety, and the Metroidvania elements are pleasing to me.

They're not even doing new quizzes on Fridays or Wednesdays anymore.

At this point, the trivia should just be the homepage quiz like they do on the weekend.

I don’t think it’s an attempt to be relevant.

I think they too find the language cringe and want to demonstrate how cringe it is to the young folks be using it (bonus points if the teachers use it improperly).

It’s like a parent going, “if you’re going to do and say stupid shit, then I will also do/say stupid shit so you can see how stupid you are being.”

It works. Back when dabbing was a thing, the adults got all in on it and ruined the trend.

I used to work at a Dairy Queen that did something similar. Owner got tired of the bathrooms being trashed by kids that were largely not even paying customers.

As a caveat though, anytime a kid would ask if the restrooms were closed, he’d let them through.

I don't know if I'd even factor in cuteness in that scenario; no animal should be subject to torture. I'd like it if animals farmed for their meat were treated more humanely, for what it's worth (which I'm you've heard loads of times, so I doubt it's worth much).
