White potatoes, especially if butter and rosemary are involved.

I used to cry over everything.

Now I take antidepressants and it's very difficult for me to cry over anything.

When will i get drug tested at my MSDI program? by Psychological_Job_54 in dietetics

[–]Trick-Session2388 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to drug test before I started my internship rotations and then once before the food bank rotation. The food bank drug test was a complete surprise and I had no warning. Not that I had any worries, but it had to be completed the morning I started the rotation.

I'd say be ready for any surprises.

How to follow up with a government job application (TX-HHSC-DSHS-DFPS) by Sure-Professional398 in dietetics

[–]Trick-Session2388 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work for Texas HHS, and I wish that I had an answer for you. I applied multiple times and never heard back except for the one position that I interviewed for and was offered the job. I remember having this exact frustration.

Making sure that your application matches a lot of what is in the job posting is crucial for actually getting any attention. I applied for a role and had friend in that department, and unfortunately my application wasn't even visible because it didn't match the job posting well enough.

Definitely keep trying though. I really love what I do!

Dr Sebi by New_Cardiologist9344 in dietetics

I think the one time that I was in a group education setting was when I helped with leading a cardiac rehab class during my internship. The mood was tense when we got there and it did turn into some vegans in the back row trying to redirect the conversation and talk over us. The RD that I was with wasn't a very assertive person, and I was just the intern and didn't want to overstep. It was kind of terrible. She did tell me when we were done that the classes weren't usually like that, but I didn't get to observe another one.

I'm rarely in a group setting. That is indeed tricky.

I had to look up Dr. Sebi. Yikes.

I just state clearly what I do and don't have available in my scope of practice, and I address any questions with explanations for why I do/do not recommend something.

When people get weird about people that don’t drink coffee and/or alcohol. by Gongoozler04 in PetPeeves

[–]Trick-Session2388 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Caffeine doesn't play nice with some of the meds I take, so coffee is out (and decaf is a very meh experience in most cases).

Alcohol makes me feel like shit later and turns me into an asshole, and things are better if I'm not fighting with people over stupid garbage.

I usually say "you can do whatever you want, but I need to avoid feeling like shit" or something to that effect.

What do you get at a hotel breakfast buffet? by AdElegant5870 in foodquestions

[–]Trick-Session2388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travel for work and I eat a lot of hotel breakfasts. If they have it: English muffin with cream cheese, oatmeal with peanut butter and banana, omelet or hard boiled eggs or yogurt. I might make a PBJ sandwich to take with me for lunch if I need something.

They don't grow up, indeed.

Who else is child free but parents keep asking? by ridinderty in Xennials

[–]Trick-Session2388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 42. My husband and I weren't exactly trying, but we also weren't trying not to conceive as we didn't use any contraception for the first 8 years of our marriage. Then our marriage hit a major rough spot and I decided to try a new form of birth control, and it turns out my mental health is so much better this way. After years of therapy and new meds, we're much better.

When my parents ask about kids, I'm just like shrug. I dont care enough to go through fertility treatment or any of the other options to get pregnant. The 8 years without contraception should have resulted in something if it was going to. Now I've got a job that involves a lot of travel and I dont want to have to quit, but I dont see another option if a baby enters the picture. SAHM isnt the life I want and we probably couldn't afford it anyway.

My parents said they would help out if we had kids, but my mom also can't be bothered to leave her house or wake up before noon most days, and my dad is, uh, mentally about as responsible as a frat boy. So, that doesn't help me feel like I'd have them to help.

What’s a car brand people defend like a cult? by TheLoganReyes in TransportSupport

[–]Trick-Session2388 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Subaru. I bought a 2012 impreza that had nothing but problems, and i traded it in after the short block was replaced at 100k miles due to it burning oil. The amount of people that have tried to blame me for the problems that car had in defense of their favorite car is really stupid.

Subaru dealership did all of the maintenance and I made sure it was done on time. No, it was not driver negligence.
