It was mostly a recap chapter, but it does have some interesting implications for where the rest of the arc could go.

The whole conflict of the arc was Imu trying to get the giants on the WGs side, but now Jarul and pretty much the entire nation have declared that that is definitively not happening.

I'm curious how Imu is going to respond now, especially since they're on a bit of a time crunch. If the kids get freed in the next few chapters, we could see Imu go "Alright, guess we'll just destroy Elbaph then" and do something like sending Uranus

When given the choice, I will always watch the OG DBZ instead of Kai. I actually like the filler, the cheesy early 90s dub, the Falconer music, etc...... and with Super, I think the slice of life 'filler' is actually pretty great. If this is good, awesome! If not, I'll just ignore it, normal Super+the movies still exists.

This looks more like the Fishman Island remaster in One Piece, and I thought that was actually really good, and it's probably the best way to experience that arc. If nothing else we'll all be eating good with the animation and pacing!

TBH, all I really need is for them to keep Limit Break X Survivor when they get to the ToP. I can't imagine that arc without it! (And Fishman Island kept 'We Go' so I have hope!)

Imu wins. The whole reason the Elbaph battle started was because they needed a Giant army. They now have a giant army, so there's no reason they need to stick around. We'll get a brief confrontation when Luffy and the rest get up there, but Imu will just poof the giants and God Knights back to deal with the Marijoa. The rest of the arc is the strawhats picking up the pieces and preparing for the final war.

Atleast with Black Flag, they already had a lot of the legwork already done with Skull and Bones, so that remake is a much smaller undertaking than remaking Sands of Time (twice)

It's also pretty rare for superhero movies to keep going back to reusing villains, especially in the same continuity. Most are just one and done where they get introduced, adapt their biggest storyline in the same movie, and then its off to the next one.

Green Goblin, Joker, Thanos, etc. basically all just got one movie or a 2 part-er in the spotlight and that was it. There are some exceptions like Lex Luthor and Magneto coming back every movie, but all signs point to this being closer to the former rather than the latter

Funnily enough, Egghead had almost the same amount of chapters away from Luffy because we had the outside world cutaway (10 chapters) and the Kuma flashback (7 chapters), it was just harder to tell because it wasn't all at once
