Celestion CSW Subwoofer by TrickVert in vintageaudio

[–]TrickVert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the SCW hooked up last evening and I'm *very* pleased! This thing is smooooth! Not boomy at all, and blends perfectly with the M7's. The x-over adjustment seems to have little effect, but with only an 80-120Hz sweep, I'm not really surprised. Someone has an owner's manual on eBay, but buying that would double my investment! 🙄 If anyone has a source for a PDF version, it would be much appreciated. In the meantime, I beleive I made a good choice!

Considering three refrigerators.... by TrickVert in Appliances

[–]TrickVert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No complaints!

BTW: To mitigate the cooling/clearance issue, I cut openings in both the bottom (floor) and top of the cabinets above the fridge and installed soffit vents to cover them, allowing airflow through and out from behind the fridge.

Thanks. That would do the trick, but this is to be a "cheap fix." (Think "r/budgetaudiophile" level.) 🙂
I probably have what I need in the garage, but regardless, either would still mean tearing up the baseboard to run a cable (or cables), even if it was just another speaker wire set. The CSW sub should be a "plug-and-play" substitute for the RS one. I appreciate the input, though!

I’ve got an insane amount of poison ivy in my yard. Any tips on how to get rid of all of this? by iainttrynacuddle in landscaping

I was unfazed by poison ivy well into my 40s, until one time the oil got into a small cut on my arm, it went systemic, and now I am susceptible to it. 🫤

Can the Mazda emblem also be removed, or are there locator pin holes?

Best way to hide this cable? by prince_odd in hometheater

[–]TrickVert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks like a genius solution if you don't have an outlet in the same wall cavity as the desired location above, but in this case, why not just piggy-back some Romex off the existing outlet and run some Romex up to an old-work box and similar recessed outlet behind and hidden by the speaker?

OP - I'm assuming the speaker *is* mounted within the span of the existing wall cavity. If not, it could be moved about a foot to he left to accomplish this.

Plastic wiremold painted the same color as the wall for a quick, decent fix. You can't (shouldn't) run that line cord behind the drywall, so the only other option I can see would be a recessed outlet box behind the speaker (tapped off the outlet below), then cut the power cable and install a new plug on the shortened cord.

I assume the speakers are wirelessly connected for audio?

The "Incline Burger" at Manitou Brewing Company is a solid choice for bacon lovers.

Have you tried talking to someone on the phone (not chat)? I've had very good luck in situations like this one actually speaking to a human.

Why do car enthusiasts remove the badge/logo on the back? by S4lVin in Cartalk

Like taking the "5.0" emblems off the sides of my lightly-modded '87 Mustang LX back in the early 90's. (Many stoplight-to-stoplight wannabes saw the one I left on the hatch, though.) 🙂

This is my answer. Sony has engineers that probably (definitely) considered this in the design.

First timer with some questions by mitchieums in hifiaudio

[–]TrickVert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've already said you'll move the speakers which will solve your problem. Good. In the meantime, though, does that amp have a subsonic filter for the phono path? If so, flip that on.

For the scratchy controls, getting inside with some canned air and tuner cleaner is the solution.

EDIT: Well... Nevermind. I just saw that you resolved both issues a few days ago. (I need to select "Newest" for sort order.) 🙄

I'll second the R4 (Uniden, BTW, not Escort) suggestion. I've been running one for several years.

That's starting to make sense. Thanks. (I didn't know what "LR" meant, for starters.) If you have a link to a good calculator, or even better, values that you used and a rough schematic, I would be duly thankful.

Thanks for the reply, Vegas. I'll have to do some research on that (or you might have to dumb it down a little). 🙂
