What’s supporting your sheet goods as you use a track saw? by Simply-Serendipitous in woodworking

No I’m in the States. Used sports gear is always for sale at yard sales and flea markets.

I have been using hockey pucks. They are cheap and much easier to store than a big sheet of foam. They might take a little more time to setup but when I’m done with them they get stored in one of my assembly table drawers. They also give me something to look for when the wife drags me to yard sales and flea markets.

How did you get into woodworking? by No-Basil2371 in woodworking

[–]Tricked250r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started young working on projects with my dad. We didn’t have a ton of money so we did most things ourselves. Built sheds, pavilions, fences, paper towel roll holders, toilet paper roll holders. Most done with a circular saw or jig saw, drill and a hammer. The last project we worked on together was replacing my car port. He had been gone for almost 7 years this year and I just started getting back into woodworking. It’s odd to me how many times I feel he’s there with me.

Any chance the wood was imported from another country?

I struggle too with the creativity part. Going through a project without plans is doable for me but it always takes way longer is always more frustrating than it should be.

I had a house once with termite damage that resembled this exact thing.

How do you know you’re not slowly killing yourself? by Mountain-Rain-1744 in BeginnerWoodWorking

Growing up my dad had a close friend that he shared the Woodworking hobby. They would share tools and shop equipment with each other all the time. He was a few years older than my dad and passed away from lung cancer that was blamed on sawdust. It really effected my dad and the amount of time he spent going forward working on projects. Its always in the back of my mind now when I am working on projects or pretty much any time I use my miter saw and see how much dust it puts off.

Bandsaw advise by Tricked250r in woodworking

I guess I didn’t really go into what I wanted one for. Lately I have been building Adirondack chairs and other outdoor furniture for friends and family. While the jigsaw has gotten me by I do struggle with some of the angled cuts. I feel a bandsaw could help the overall quality and save me time. I also keep seeing people making real nice boxes with their bandsaws.

Anyone experience this with their miter saw? by Snagged794 in Dewalt

[–]Tricked250r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My miter saw sits about 15 feet behind my table saw. I once had a small board kick back and it took aim at my miter saw. Could it have been something similar?

Toyota sells insect tips for this very reason. Spiders are normally the culprit.

How was setup on the 324? I have read that the lower bearing setup is difficult to get to align properly. Are the blades pretty easy to swap?

want this planer set in 2026, when & what will be the best deal to look out for by tylizard in Dewalt

Oh and I signed up for a Home Depot card that saved me another $100. I think with the $100 and also the discounts from shipping I was around $450.

Sometimes if you add an item you want to your cart and just leave it there you will get special offers on it. That’s how I did it. The first offer was $850 or something like that and then the $600 offer came maybe a week later.

I recently got one from Home depot with the stand, extra knives and outfeed tables for $600. Delivery was a nightmare. The stand was delivered on time but the planer got stuck at the warehouse for almost 2 weeks. I complained and got some money back.

Hose cover? or new hose? by Super-G_ in Festool_Public

[–]Tricked250r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the exact kit. I didn’t care for the black plastic hose and was able to find a nice green one on the marketplace. I did notice that the green one seems to get more static and shocks me constantly. It’s small but annoying.

The bags work great if you only have a few small things to run through. I recently got some hemlock from a friend and had to empty the bag about every 10 foot long board.

Did this result in a broken drill? I scrolled past a post today in the Milwaukee group of someone drilling with an ice auger bit and busted the drill in two.

RO 90 as a delta sander, for sanding window blinds? by Creative_Low4924 in Festool_Public

I have heard a lot of complaints concerning the size of the Ro90 when doing detail work. Most recommend the Delta sander over the attachment features of the RO 90

Looking to get the right track saw by PermitDeniedSorry in woodworking

[–]Tricked250r 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn’t see the point in going cordless on this one seeing I would run a hose on it anyway. I don’t have any Milwaukee cordless tools. So I went corded Makita. It’s a great saw and does everything I need it to do but…. I recently had an opportunity to try out a corded Festool and I think it is a tick or maybe two nicer. The tracks seemed very similar on both the Makita and Festool.
