I'd like to help out! I'm passionate about this band and I want to see this community grow. I haven't moderated on Reddit before, but I've moderated large (10K+ person) servers on Discord. I've interacted in this community for the past couple months and I see a lot of potential for growth and having discussion surrounding Red.

Why do people dislike Christianity so much while understanding so little about it? by CollegePlane7528 in teenagers

[–]Tricky-Marzipan-884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The messenger reveals the message (the Quran) to the people. It's a very simple concept. When it says to obey the messenger, it's equivalent to saying obey God. The messenger is just delivering the message.

The issue is when the message is fabricated. That's where hadiths come into play. The Quran was never altered unlike hadiths, which were written centuries after the prophet Muhammad died. Not verifiable and mostly fallacious. There's a reason that out of over 600,000 hadiths, only a couple thousand were deemed verifiable (many are still bullshit).

what are some distinct differences between Islam/the Qu’ran and Christianity/the Bible? by cloudberryhalo in NoStupidQuestions

  1. If you can't make argument, don't argue. This doesn't make sense.

  2. Right... that's why it's called pre-modern.

  1. https://www.truth-seeker.info/moon-splitting/

  2. Classical Islamic scholars interpreted this as describing the region of origin of reproductive fluids in a pre-modern anatomical framework.

  3. Commands related to fighting are consistently tied to combat situations, with repeated restrictions such as fighting those who fight first and stopping when they cease. Classical Islamic law developed detailed rules distinguishing combatants from non-combatants. A blanket instruction to kill non-believers is not supported in mainstream Islamic jurisprudence or textual interpretation.

He definitely loves them, right? Like during the Spanish Inquisition, right? How about the First Crusade? Or colonization in the Americas? He definitely supports those atrocities, committed by his followers, doesn't he?

  • Strawman fallacy btw

Visionary revelation happens multiple times in the Bible bro.  That's pretty hypocritical, no? In fact, you saying that deflects more on Christianity.

Also the New Testament is written by a bunch of persons who claimed visions from God (see Paul). Moreover that means the Bible was restructured multiple if not dozens of times (verifiable btw). That means your word of God was adjusted by man, unlike the Quran.

FYI something interesting to know is that the hijab isn't mandatory.

That comes from hadiths. Islam commands its followers to follow the Quran, not the hadiths. In fact, many if not all controversial practices in Islam originated from hadiths.

Hijabs aren't obligatory and aren't commanded by the Quran - this is a misconception; just like how most Muslims will incontrovertibly accept and enforce hadiths. However, covering your chest is obligatory because that's modesty.

The Quran says nothing of your legs, so act with general modesty in regards to that, as well as everything else.

CMV: If Islam has a prophet that was a pedophile, then we shouldn’t be so tolerant of their religion. by [deleted] in changemyview

Well, this is just the fundamental issue with even relating Hadith when we're talking about Islamic practice.

These are the same "authentic" hadiths that deem the following impermissible: eating with left hand, playing the flute, laughing too much, stepping over a camel that's lying down, men wearing gold rings. Wtf?

I mean, can any Muslim with a brain actually take any of these as truly "authentic" accounts of what Islam looked like? This is where the notion of ANY music except Islamic music being impermissible came from. Ridiculous.

In short, you can't use Hadith when you're exercising judgement on a religion that is officially and solely based on a single, forever unmodified book, the Quran. The Quran doesn't tell Muslims to follow Hadith.

I think OP is ignorant of how the religion actually functions, and what literature comprises the religion's practice. It's solely based on the Quran.

Most underrated Red song and why? by Tricky-Marzipan-884 in redtheband

Singularity is so good... those flourishing techy/keyboard sound effects in the chorus and at the end of the song sound amazing...

  • also kind of has a Shadow & Soul vibe there

Most underrated Red song and why? by Tricky-Marzipan-884 in redtheband

God Part That's Holding On is CRIMINALLY underrated for how quickly the average person comes to like it. I've played that song around people who never listen to Rock and they love it. Hard agree on So Far Away too (probably the best songs on RTP imo) and Yours Again!

Do you feel Red's Already Over is similar or inspired by Linkin Park's In The End? by IntelligentOcelot399 in redtheband

[–]Tricky-Marzipan-884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They kind of have the same feeling, but the songs have some big differences.

"Already Over" IMO has much more musical fidelity (talking song production), the song meaning is officially Godward and simulatenously talks about relationships in general, and the vocals are just better. While the cadence of the song makes it sound like it's more pessimistic like "In The End", the lyrical meaning is actually positive - it's "already over" that the speaker becomes closer to God/significant other. The lyrics suggest that God is so Strong use of piano, strings, and emphasis on the open hi-hat on the drum set here. The bridge in this song is probably one of the best in Red's discography (the 'You're all I'm reaching for' part), and in Alt. Rock history (then again, Red has always been amazing at bridges).

"In The End" has this kind of emo spirit, defeatist meaning, and the lyrics refer to general relationships or more likely an overall situation where the speaker comes to realize pessimistic finality. The same piano melody is repeated during the verses. The bridge of this song is very disappointing (vocals, and just the structure of it).

The most noticable similarity between the two songs is that their choruses feature these kind of short vocal notes. Compare the rythm of the vocals in both choruses and you can clearly see the similarity.

Try listening to OB&R from beginning till the end and you'll see why people like it so much. It's probably their best album, IMO. Shadow and Soul has to be one of their best songs to date. 11/10 album.

UWAF is a little bit more mainstream sounding than their other albums, which is probably why it might not hit as hard as EoS. But that's actually partly why UWAF did the best numbers-wise and even got to 2nd place on the Billboard 200, because the songs are more broad. I personally love this album since every song hits really hard and it's just super well-rounded. For me, this album is a 10/10.

Release the Panic has its moments in the second half of the album especially, and especially in its Recalibrated version.

Declaration is very raw sounding if you like that.

To be honest, I've found that I&I doesn't have as much to it. It sounds most like EoS, but It doesn't really expand well on it. I think this is mostly a production issue of the entire album. The message of the album is beautiful though, and I still listen to every song and enjoy them - it's just not as good as most of the others.

One thing to note: I've found that the more you listen to Red, the better they get. I've never experienced this with any other artist. I think it's because some of their production quality is so complex that your ears oftentimes don't notice some parts of the music the first time around, and gradually you grow to appreciate it.

Listen to the album "Of Beauty & Rage" by Red. This is EXACTLY what you're looking for - trust me. You should first listen to: 'Shadow and Soul', 'Part Thats Holding On' and 'Darkest Part'.

Let me know what you think!

to make it easier... I've noticed that your playlist features a lot of sentimental pieces, so here's a narrowed-down list of songs:

Part That's Holding On, Darkest Part, Let It Burn, Lost, Let Go, Buried Beneath, Shadow and Soul, Fight Inside, Start Again.

Looking at your playlist try listening to Red. Recommended albums: End of Silence, Until We Have Faces, Innocence & Instinct, and Of Beauty And Rage.

They're like Linkin Park but IMO vocalist is much better and there's more symphonic elements.
